OT: memories of better times before 9/11
very beautiful pictures...I really wish I got to see the towers in person and because of damn terrorists, i'll never have the chance.
I don't mean to be an ***, but life was no simpler before.
There were, and still are, people who want to kill us because of the country we live in. People who believe our lives are political statements for them to make. If anything has changed let's hope it's that their terrible acts last year opened our eyes enough that we may prevent an even worse attack from happening.

Thanks for those pics. Beautiful.

Life for me has changed completely, ever try to get on a military base anymore? I had to do it everyday this summer and it SUCKS now. Random searches of cars, ID checks mandatory, etc. Before any person could just drive right in.
Our security was a joke at best before, at least something is finally being done to change that.

I guess you could say a simpler life is the same as innocence, naivety, bliss, ignorance...
9/11 was a rude introduction to the realities of the world we really live in.
Sometimes though, being flooded with the scenes of devastation from 9/11, it's nice to look at pictures that bring back fonder memories.

I'll just never forget being in Japan hearing this when it happened last year. I was in Japan for none other then car parts of course. However the first day was ruined from a Typhoon that hit. Strange thing was when we got their all US gov. buildings were on alert regarding a possible attack. Crazy huh. The second day was ok (just shopped some during the storm, however I was about to go to sleep that night when my friend came into the room and said that the WTC was hit by a plane. I didn't think much and went to sleep because it just didn't make sence. However the morning I went into the other room and saw people jumping from the buildings to the death (In Japan they didn't censor anything). I was in total shock and fear. Being in another country when your own country (half way across the world) in under attack is a very painfull and vunerable feeling. I had no idea what to do. I tried calling the US however all connections to the US were down. On TV I couldn't understand anything besides the pictures and what my friend would translat (which was really bad because who's good at translating news like this). From that day on till when we left (6day later) it was really hard to do anything. People would look at me and just wonder what I was thinking/ feeling. It was a really hard time and place to be in. When I finally got back to the US it was a total culture shock. Flags everywhere, peace music on the radio, etc... It was such a shock that I actually slept for 19hrs straight. I didn't know what to do.
Anyway just a recall of what was going on exactly 1yr ago today.
Oh yeah guess where I got most all of my information/news on what was going on!!! Honda-tech. Dave (JDMsiR) let me and some friends read honda-tech at his home (5mins away from us) so that we could see what was going on since everyone on H-T was so well informed. Crazy. Without Daves US military connections and my friends United Airlines connections, I don't know what would have happened.

I remember eating dinner at the top floor of one of the towers, it was absolutely incredible. I took so many pics and now I'm glad I had the chance to go and that I took so many pictures.
I remember logging on to HT last Sept. 11 and seeing Lips post about how he saw it on television. After that many other topics on the matter arose from various HT peeps.
Let us all look for the silver lining and learn to cherish our lives, our friends, loved ones, and even our experiences for the gifts they really are. Just becuase we are mortal as this day proved to us all doesn't mean that we should fear the lives that we live. Cherish them for every day that we have them, through our loved ones, our friends...our R's.
I forgot more about hondas then you will ever know....

Looking at the NYC skyline and not seeing the Towers leaves me with a sad and eery feeling...
Yup! The security on bases seems lax on some installations and very thorough on others. Secret Clearance makes a big difference in how quickly your allowed on to military installations now and the security today is particularly hightened in the DC Metro area. But, it's still Threatcon Bravo as far as I remember.

very nice picture btw
