Default Could use help diagnosing.

My D16Z6 engine is making a low popping sound when under 2500 rpms, and it does make the car hesitate to gain speed, once over 2500 it rides normal.

The car also rides normal until its warmed up a little. So first thing in the morning its riding fine.

i've replaced all spark plugs, oil change, cleaned FITV, bled coolant.. Compression test successful.

Please help, thank you.

Is your check engine light on? One option of many is the cam position sensor located in the distributor but that would make your car idle weird like up and down almost like if you had an upgraded cam. Any other symptoms? Check your timing. Could also be a fuel issue cuz you said its fine in the morning well the cold idle warm up spit more fuel and air so check the fuel pressure change the fuel filter clean your injector etc.

hey what readings did your compression test yield....when i put in my z6-y8 i had a problem like that also.rode fine to 2500 but once there it would buck like i didnt know how to drive stick(or like a pissed as **** bull)but one time i got tired of it and gave it wide open throttle and it started running above 2500.anyways it was a whole bunch of little things like the wiring of my fan was way wrong(draining power from the whole car).my rotor for the dizzy was ****ed,had to clean the plugs and there was a few exposed wires that i had to address.on my friends mini me swap he had a popping and it was cuz his timing was off one tooth.try checking you timing to start.

i think it might be something to do with fuel as well. because It started happening after I put some gas in at the Shell station. I will check the fuel filter. ef cowboy, my problem is opposite of yours. an di checked all teh little problems it could have been.. Maybe I should check my timing as well.
Thanks.

i would definately start with a fuel filter, only because its cheap, easy and anyone can do it.
does it have a check engine light on?

the other thing to try would be some fuel injector cleaner

When the RPM'S are under 2500, besides it hesitating to gain speed, does the car surge or lurch during acceleration?

I would check timing first. Then do a compression test dry then wet ( using two squirts of oil in each cylinder ) and compare the two to see if its rings or valves. Then I would do a leak down to CYA yourself and go from there. Good luck if you need more help just hit me up

I did good on the compression test, already did that a couple weeks ago.. Just put fuel injector cleaner in earlier today so i guess i'm just gonna let it run its course..
