Default B16A questions

I need some help, here is the spec of my EK,

Engine: stock B16A with the following modifications,
- ITR IM
- ITR throttle body
- ITR intake and exhaust cam
- Skunk2 cam gear set at 0,0
- 2 layers Spoon head gasket
- EK9 ECU (PCT)
- Spoon 4-2 + ITR 2-1 header
- Stock EK9 catback exhaust

Engine compression 210 across all 4 cylinders. The car is mainly driving on the street.

Problem,
1) The engine has been consuming about a liter of oil every 1000 miles that is after replaced the PVC valve. It was even worst before replacing a new PVC, so now i found my IM is very oily inside (black color) and i expect there is alot of build-up inside the combustion chamber. And i have heard that the build-up could affect the oil consumption. Is there a way to fix it. Seafoam?

2) Is the thermoblock for intake manifold and throttle body worth getting??

Thanks for the comment and help.

To be honest i don't see any smoke when idling and i don't see any smoke in the rear view mirror when driving, maybe i am too busy watch the road. I don't have black rear bumper. I need to ask my friend to follow me to found it out.

Sounds like your oil control rings are stuck. Oil in the intake manifold is from blow-by suggesting your rings are worn. Try doing a leak down test and see what you get.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have the tools for the leak down test, i knoe a shop that can do it for $200USD. There is no way i would pay $200 for it.

What option do i have?

1) pull the engine out and replace with oversize CTR piston & rings

2) put some engine cleaner in such as seafoam and hope that the oil control rings to un-stuck from the build-up

Any suggestion? Thanks.

$200 USD?!!!? that's insane... I suppose you could try the seafoam and see if that helps. Rebuilding would be your last (most expensive) option.

A leakdown test will tell you if the oil rings are bad? I was told it won't. Just Curious.

It will give you a general view of things in the combustion chamber and rule out some other possibilities.
