Need an idea what do build.
Got a '89 HF, perfect body. Stripped, nothing but a steering column and fusebox in it. No wiring harness, no tar, no heatshielding on the firewall. *Stripped*.
What do I build it into? I'm about to pop in an HF swap so I can drive it back and forth to work (30 minutes away, lonely highway.) Need a reliable car, 'cause my Jeep is becoming a bit unreliable. but it'll be fine for school and local stuff.
Should I save up cash for a full, quality paint job? I want Championship or Frost white. Or should I just get a new coat on the exterior, keep it some shade of red (original / interior color)?
What engine setup should I go? I wanna stay D-Series, and I've got a Z6 swap I can build / use.
I don't know. Tell me what you guys would do if you had a Civic Hatchback chassis, a Z6, and lots of time to build on it.

i would never want another d series after living the dream that is B series (haha) but i would say to get some higher compression pistons and mill the head, then get some sort of big cam. you are probably looking at about $1000 so far, at least you already have the motor.
na..heres wat to do...
tare down the motor and start by getting forged pistonsand eagle rods. the some acl bearing and arp heads studs
buy a zc lsd tranny and axles to go with it..
have the head ported and polished..not milled..
get a turbo cam and cam gear
get 450 cc injectors froma talon
get a vafc
get a greddy turbo
put together...and dyno tune
kick ***..
obviosly you can leave stuff out thats out of your budget..but main idea...turob sohc vtec in hf..13's easy..kick *** on the street and road course..

If you're gonna go turbo, do it right with a B18! Don't waste your time building up a D series IMO, 'cuz you can get better performance with a bigger B series.
Now, if you want to stay D series, then definetly use the Z6 block, but then slap a Y8 head on there! If you could also get a hold of some A6 pistons, use those instead of the Z6 pistons (higher compression).
That should be pretty quick (almost done with mine) especially with a HF!
So far my swap is pretty much just like dropping in another d16a6, except for the Vtec activation. I'm gonna use a Zdyne conversion ecu, but whatever you use, make sure you have the extra fuel to compensate for the vtec. (zdyne ecu comes with the Y8 fuel/timing maps)
Good luck!
