Default Candy Paint

Hey guys I have 2 questions. The first is has anyone used the Kirker Spectra series candy colors? I have used their single stage paint before, and it works great I just have never used the candy color before.
The second question is about applying the candy color. I have heard from some guys say that you spray the whole side of the car and don't stop, the same to the other side, and then you get the trunk, hood and top but you have to hit the whole side together. Other people told me you can spray it like the single stage. You can get the door, fenders, and quarter panels separately. Not running down the whole car for passes without stopping. Do both ways work? What is the difference between the 2 methods and will one mess up the candy effect?
I am not the best painter in the world, I still run some spots every now and then. I just wanted to know, because if you have to run down the whole side, I am going to have to practice alot for my distance, or I will run some spots. I am more comfortable hitting the door and fenders together, and then going down more and hitting the back or the door to the quarter panels.

with candys its better to spray the whole side of the cat at once, since they are transparent and darken with more coats any overlaps will be darker than the rest causing stripping. i spray hok and if you use a 75% overlap for your first 3 coats then a 50% on your last that works best for me.

if you are still running base you should practice on a large panel to get the hang of it like a bed side or something

1. you have to walk the whole car when spraying candy. There's no stopping at all cause you'll going to see the tone difference if you try and panel shoot it. Candy is probably the hardest to spray if you've never done it before, and I hope you plan on using a real good gun to spray with

2. If you plan on spraying candy, be sure to get a good clear(same brand as the paint) cause there's really no need to cheap out with candy paint. Definitely practice, practice, PRATICE before spraying candy paint, cause if you're running base paint, you'll definitely run candy and that's not cheap

Thanks for the quick reply's. Is there a good way to practice other than using a car, to get the hang of it anything you guys practiced with? Also how fast do you have to go, and about what distance? And it has to be wet, not any dry spray right? You guys should try the kirker one day, it is $29-40 a quart, it is pretty cheap. When my friend used the brandywine off color from Kirker for a truck, it was close to the HOK brandywine on his camero. If you guys ever get a chance try it you might like it.

get some old junk body panels set them up sde by side and walk along them. as far as speed goes you will have to work on that and distance is alot of personal preferance. i keep mine around 10-12 inches away for candy, and use a wide fan pattern and yes spray a medium wet coat do not dry spray at all.

as far as where to get junk parts try a body shop they might just give em to you if not you can get aftermarket honda fenders for around 30 worth it for the practice

painting candy is not the same as painting a regular 2 stage paint your candy base is vary transparent if u paint a car the same way u would paint a 2 stage you would streek the crap out of the paint and it would look like ***! FYI singlestage is nothin close to spraying base coat clearcoat
