Back-up lights work only SOMETIMES?
Hi.
I have had this problem since I bought the car. When I put the car in Reverse, the back-up lights do not come on. It has been like this since a week ago, when they magically started to work again... The only things I did to the car that day included: Taking off the back plastics, cleaning the center ground cable for the tail-lights, found out three wires back there are partly exposed, but were taped up.
So, yesterday, driving normally all the time... my right front signal light burns out! (I did the 92-95 socket switch)
Then it magically comes back to life again, about a half hour later.
Then I find out my reverse lights aren't working again, later that night.
What could be the cause of this? It wasn't until last night that they stopped working again. I checked all the bulbs, they are fine. I checked the bullet-connectors, they are connected. What can I do to rule out the switch?

It sounds like you have more exposed wires to sort out or another bad ground. check the headlight ground blocks, and go over the wiring in the rear again, you might need to unloom the wiring to get a better look.
good luck

If it was only the back up lights I would say to check the electrical connector at the transmission, it could be a faulty connection or just loose.
But since you said it started to work when you took the rear lights apart and cleaned it up, there has to be something making it do that. Have you tried that contact seal they sell at the local Auto Parts?

I'm thinking it's probably just the switch going out slowly?
I took the rear plastics off so I can see when my back-up lights are working, or are not.
