New '94 integra.....is this a timing issue?
Hey guys, my gf just bought a '94 integra for $2600 with roughly 190k on it. The car is in great shape and ran great but after the first day we got it, we noticied the battery wasn't holding a charge. Also had a leak of coolant under the engine. Took it back the next day, told them the problems and they put in a new battery and found out the water pump was leaking. So they replaced the water pump, new battery and we got the car back yesterday. Soon after driving it, we noticied the car started to idle rather odd and whenever we come to a stop, it revs low, engine tries to stay alive and the idle becomes wack. If you leave it alone for a bit, the car dies.
We cleaned the IACV, tried adjusting the throttle body screw a bit, unplugged the battery and the alternator looks to be working good, checked the fuel filter (looks good), air filter (looks good), spark plugs are something i'm gonna replace tomorrow. We noticied that the pcv looks oily so i'm thinking it may need to be replaced. I clamped the line down and it made a little difference but nothing much. So after all this, i got the timing gun out and hooked it up, ran a paper clip in the plug under the dash and the marks on the crank are off. I loosened the dizzy, moved it forward all the way and the lines are matching up. Is it possible the cam's are off or it skipped a tooth after we got the car back? Any ideas are welcome because I really need to help her out.
