My 2000 ITR was stolen yesterday, 4-21-10, between the times of 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. I went to school to study for about 2 hours and when I got back to the spot where I parked, my car was missing. I had an auto-lock on it with an alarm. Sadly, I didn't have a kill switch, but the truth of the matter is, if thieves want a car, they'll take it no matter what. For all other ITR owners, don't leave her sight for too long and take care of her. Anyways, my license plate number is 5JND103 and if anyone sees or comes across it, please notify the police. I'd much appreciate it. Thanks.
here we go again...This is frustrating, I'm more upset at the thieves, but dam we as owners unfortunately have to spend several hundreds of dollars to protect our property properly. Alarms, kill switches, gps, handguns, & etc. Sorry for your lost. What it is like every 2-4 months, another bites the dust...

Invested another grand and then some into even more security + a full sized wheel boot and haven't had a problem since.

I don't know how Cali thieves roll but I know that here in MN when your car turns up stolen and found in some alley I say within a block, two or three is where it all went down. Just keep cruising and on the lookout for potential thieves/racers in that area where your car was found. But lately it seems as though stolen cars never come up stripped anymore or sitting in some alley. The more and more posts I read on forums are taking a guess that they're getting junked and towed straight to the pound and crushed.
I've been in your shoes and know the feeling. It's like giving thieves $15,000. Here, it's yours...

Basically, it's like saying... "Here you go, here's my car, here's my keys, and everything in the car is yours." Hard to say, but that's the bottom line. Cali is probably the worst when it comes to car thieves, especially in Los Angeles County
First mistake...daily driver. Second, if it wasn't your daily....parked at school for two hours. Large windows of time + a scout to watch where you went = car gone. I'm really sorry to hear the car is gone, but there are certain precautions you must take if wanting to own and keep an R. A beater is a must! I wish you the best of luck finding it. Unfortunately we all know the typical end result of this bullshit!
Keep us informed. Be sure to add your car to the graveyard providing it doesn't turn up.

I feel your pain.makes me glad 0842 is locked up . good luck hope someone gets caught driving her and she comes home in one piece. or at least hope they leave the shell in one piece . will keep an eye out for you.
I have my Type R parked outside as my daily and my sti in the garage. My sti is worth twice as much and have twice as much invested into it but the sad thing is the R is more likely to get stolen.
Just curious how layered was your alarm setup? Backup battery, siren with stand-alone battery, starter kill, hood pins, tilt sensor?

i disagree i DD mine, most people cant DD an ITR though... nobodys coming on to a military installation to steal an ITR. I dont go to the movies, mall, or anywhere where i cant see heR! its a small sacrifice to pay.
to the OP sry to hear your R was stolen. best of luck to it being recovered. keep us all informed
parts do turn up on craigslist
you also might find your parts at the local race track
i totally agree that your car was likely stripped within 5 miles of where it was found. no thief likes to haul around a stolen shell.
if you hungout around the area your car was found and kept an eye peeled for likely targets it's quite possible you will see some of your gear driving around. thieves normally drop cars at places they are familiar with and drive past often.

My wife thought I was crazy the day I bought my R and she saw me tying it with a chain from the chasis around a structural beam in my garage. Mine sleeps in a closed 2 car garage with chains and my Daily Driver Civic SI 4door behind it outside! I'll be damned if I'm gonna let f..king thieves take my car.
Anyways, I'm truly sorry for your loss dude. I hope you recover her or at least get some $$$ from the insurance company to purchase another. Best of luck!
