Default cluster fried???

i am doing a wiring swap for my cluster and some dude is helping me out in the process of it... i had put all the power cables together and when i turned on the cluster started to smoke in white i turned it off after 2-3 seconds of it getting powered... i tried to take the cluster apart but the needles couldn't let me take off so im wondering now how bad did the cluster get burnt and if its still usable or not any help would be great
