Default Wont Start

Alright so i have a crx with a y7 in it and im trying to run a pm6. All my light horn and stuff work my fuel pump kicks on and i get one blink from the ecu right as i am turning on the car. But i cant even get the thing to turn over iv gone over all my fuses and all the grounds i can think of and there all ok. So does any one have any ideas what the reason would be why it wont start??

what distributor is on the engine?

do you have the HF engine harness on it?

are you getting any codes at the ECU?

when u say "turn over" do you mean the engine does nothing when u turn the key? or it cranks but won't turn on?

if it's the 1st question, check your starter. make sure the ground is making good contact and fuses.

if it's the 2nd, are u using an obd0 distributor with the pm6?

Does nothing when i turn the key.
Ill check tonight and make sure everything is good on the starter.
And yes i am using a obdo with a pm6 ecu.

And for the post about what happened between the last time it was started.
Well my buddy bought it was a shell and the wiring was all ****ed and wired to random ****. So he got a 89 si cabin harness and engine harness and rewired it. And got low on flow so i bought it for a deal. And threw y7 in it and bought a obdo single cam dizzy non tech and was told to buy a pm6 and it would run it great. And threw it all together and this is where im at so??

K so i think i figure out my problem if any one can feed in it would help. I was looking closly at the wiring and i noticed that there was nothing connected to the clutch switch and no connection for it. Doing some reading there looks like there should be a kinda harness that goes from the ignition switch then to a starter relay then to this clutch switch. And it has two other wires that dont say were they go. So i was wondering if any one knows if there is a seperate harness that im missing??

you probably need a clutch start switch. should be a three pin plug. also was it an auto before. if so there should be a two pin plug under the carpet behind the shifter in front of the e-brake. that needs to be jumped.

i would get online or get a helm's manual for a CRX and look over a wiring diagram for an 89 Si, that should give you an idea of what wires go where, since you said you have both the engine and cabin harness for an 89 Si, i would imagine that would clear up some issues

well sounds like your chasing the right thing. no crank in ignition crank position. starter doesnt have a remote ground. it grounds throught the trans bell housing. what you can do just to make sure thats your problem with the clutch switch. there should be a 2 pin connector up under the dash by the pedal assebly for the clutch switch. jump that connector with a paper clip and try to crank it. see how that goes and update us

I have the switch that screws into the frame and the peddle hits. And the car as farr as i know has never been auto. The harness has a plug for the brake switch. But there is nothing for the clutch switch.

I have manuals And i have gotten everything in its right place iv taken it all out twice and gone over it to make sure. It says i come out the ignition switch to a starter relay then to the clutch interlock switch the to the m/t i am missing this section im pretty sure.

See i dont have this connector under the dash theres one for the brake switch but nothing for my clutch switch. And iv take the whole cabin harness out and gone over it nothing is cut. So that make me think is there another part to this harness that i dont have or am i just not getting this?

was this car ever automatic? do you have a volt meter? measure voltage at starter signal wire during cranking position. im curious if your starter is even good or not. if you dont have a volt meter then how about a quick manual test. put the key in position 2 ( run ). we're going to manualy engage the starter. connect a wire from the starter signal terminal at the starter. at least 2 1/2 feet. now a few taps on the positive battery post to crank it over. update us....

Im almost a 100% sure that it was never auto and I had this motor running in a coupe before i swapped it in this crx. So im pretty sure the starter still works. But ill do a votlage test on it and see what happens and let you know thank you to guys for all you in put.

was the si harness you pulled from the 89 an auto? on second thought, all the si's are manual, right? i've never confirmed that but any way, do like pushinglikekrazy said, but dont use the battery post terminal, get some test leads and with an aligator clip, connect one lead to the b+ on the starter where the power is connected and the other to the single wire signal terminal. turn your ignition on to the "run" position and touch the leads together and see what you get.

check to see if the push button is getting pressed when you step on the clutch to turn on the car, or manually press it with your finger and turn the key.

A weld broke on my pedal assembly a few years ago and the push button wasn't being pressed.

@frank, i believe the concern is that the clutch switch is missing, and that there is no connector there. witch gives him reason to believe that, that is the cause of his no crank/no start concern
