It feels like it's missing but it's not? Is the problem with the car?

you getting CEL codes? i had a passot with an issue like this. (which is why i mention it-only because of the similarities) it did have a mis-fire code. another shop recommended an ecu. i didnt agree...yet. i checked the resistance on the injectors-all good. only cylinder number 2 had the issue. but the car felt awful (missing) at 35-50 mph only. swapped the coil on number 2 and number one cylinders and got a mis-fire code for number 3 cylinder. notices the low fuel but didnt think nothing of it since i was going straight when i got missing issues. and the fuel light wasnt on. noticed the passat should have plugs changes at every 40,000 mile service so i changed the plugs. (the car had 112000 on it) cleared CEL and the car ran fine....for a week. it came back with the same problem. and low fuel. changed all the coils and cleared the CEL. no issues. filled it with the oem recommended premium gas and it stayed with no issues. i was told to keep the car a while so i knew it was fixed. i also up sold a timing belt and tensioner. and i kept the car longer. no issues. after 3 weeks of driving it and running premium fuel, it still had no issues. gave it back and told them to only use premium fuel. their daughter was driving and only putting regular gas 5 to 10 bucks at a time but it has been fine ever since. look into these other possibilities. fuel type. servie due such as plugs or timing belt. check the coils.
