I am thinking about buying the Comptech cold air box and Comptech header for my impending B16 swap in my hatch, does anyone have this setup? Is it really worth the $$$. Any help is appreciated TIA

 

I have it.

It's great.

The setup is really quiet...has a low growl sometimes, but it's much less annoying than the "bwwaaAAAAHHHH!" of a long-tube style intake. It also makes cleaning the filter a breeze, the throttle response is good, there's no risk of hydrolock, and it's different.

Is all that worth it to you? It was to me and I'm happy...

 

anyone else? How much power did it make compared to an AEM CAI?

 

From the dyno plots I've seen they seem to be comparable in terms of power gains. They are close and in some cases has surpassed he AEM CAI.

 

I got one in my 97 Coupe - I love it - better flow and a nice burp.

 

Check out comptech's website http://www.comptechusa.com I believe with their I/H/E combo it yeilded about 16 whp. I've heard that it is better than the AEM because there is more low end power and the power is more linear. Instead of shelling out all the cash, just buy a short ram and modify your stock air box for it to fit within, than cut the resonator in half so it's pulling in cold air, and add another air inlet in the side of box and make a ram air from the fog light location, you can make a ram air with the fogs and without the fogs. I bet that this setup yeild even more power than and icebox.

It's worth the money buy it once and don't worry about your intake ever again, except when cleaning the filter. It's just one of those satisifying mods.
