Default The race to I.A. '10 **white ej8**

What's up guys and gals? My car has been pretty stagnant for the last year. That doesn't mean I haven't been buying parts though. My 1998 civic coupe as it sits has a stock b16 and some visual enhancements. In the next month or so I'm going to tear the motor out, add some go fast goodies, respray the engine bay, add some stopping power, a few interior bits, and some new shoes.

Before the madness begins this is what it looks like:

I already of course have some parts on the car such as a 96 spec ITR hub conversion, K Sport coilovers, EK4 bumper conversion, JDM thin side moldings, B16a swap, Exedy clutch, ACT 11 lbs. flywheel, and a few other small things here and there.

Here's what I got right now going onto the car:

2005 Maxima bi-xenon projectors

9012 H.I.D conversion kit

New OEM headlights for retrofit

Circuit Hero shift **** and extender
JDM ek4 gauge cluster

BNIB 16x8 final edition +35 Regamasters

5mm spacers

Black vision open ended lug nuts

98 spec ITR calipers

Prelude VTEC cross drilled and slotted rotors

Axxis ceramic Pads

Hy-tech replica header w/ v-band flange

Custom t304 tig welded v-band exhaust through a vibrant flat black muffler

New front inner fender liners

Jackson Racing Supercharger with a 4.2 inch pulley completely torn apart, powder coated, and rebuilt with all new parts

LS crank pulley (should net 8.6 lbs of boost)

Precision Industries 440cc injectors

Walbro 255lph fuel pump

Benen Industries composite fuel rail

Adjustable fuel pressure regulator

BNIB ITR exhaust cam

GSR intake cam

NGK BKR7E plugs

Fidanza adjustable cam gears

B16 intake dual valve springs and retainers for the exhaust side of my head

Hondata s100 with boost

New OEM p72 water pump

New OEM timing belt

New OEM timing belt tensioner

GSR aftermarket intake

Gates 170 degree thermostat

Aluminum radiator

Comptech ICEBOX

I don't have pics for it all right now but I'll add some more as I take the pics and the progress builds.

Build night #1

Pullng the motor and Starting to tuck the harness

Finally got some work done tonight! Motor is out and I started to get the right side projector retrofit ready. Should be done tomorrow. Here's some better pics too, not from the iphone!

Motor, about to be out.

Motor is out, look on the passenger side shock tower. There is some rust just below the seam sealer one of the big reasons for the tear down.

Here's a pic of the 98 spec ITR calipers with 93 prelude vtec slotted and drilled rotors on my 96 spec ITR hubs. Had this set up on for about two weeks before the tear down so I am still including this in part of the build.

And lastly, like I had stated before I started on the retrofit. Here's the progress.

05 maxima bi-xenon's

Finally starting to come together after about 2 hours of cutting and measuring.

Then there was this big bastard who thought my ecu would be a good resting spot

Also went ahead and bought this personal fitti e5 350mm wheel last night! Waiting on just a couple parts now. My keepitcleanwiring.com stretch fit looming for my harness and my benen industries carbon composite fuel rail.

Small update... What a process retrofitting headlights is... Wasn't really sure what I was getting into when I started and after 4 hours I still am only about 80% done, with one headlight. Anyways here's the only pic I took tonight. I must say though, not to toot my own horn, it's looking pretty sick!

Did you need to use the 98 spec ITR calipers with prelude rotors on the 96 spec ITR hubs? Why not just use the 96 calipers? Where there modifications needed to make this all work together or was it straight bolt on?

Smokinsax yes I used the 98 spec ITR calipers with prelude vtec rotors on my 96 spec ITR hubs. I did this because the 98 spec ITR calipers allow for almost an inch larger rotor with significantly more clamping force than the 96 spec ITR calipers. I used to run the full 96 spec setup but decided to go this route for better braking performance. It is essentially a direct bolt on yes, but you have to use a 1/8mm shim on the brake bracket for it to bolt together correctly inside the brake caliper. Hope that was of some help to ya! Should have more updates tonight!

great info...

So far I have far superior braking with my 96 spec ITR brake conversion on my CRX than with the stock setup. We will see how much farther I will delve into racing...if I ever need to upgrade my brake setup I will def be coming back to this info.
