Icon3 ECU help please!!!

I bought a Gs-R a few weeks ago. The car is an original gsr but the guy who had it before me had an LS engine in it and he got drunk and sold his engine and tranny for $100! well he had a Gsr swap back into it a few months ago and i was going throught the car the other day and realized that it came with a 99 civic sohc Ecu... not sure what code/model it is but i want to go back to Gsr ecu but i dont know whether my gsr engine is OBD1 or OBD2.. i found a pretty good deal on a OBD1 for $80 obo. Do u guys thnk it will make become a problem what gsr ecu i use.. or can u help me identify what OBD# my gsr engine is?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!!!

chances are, if theres a 99 civic ecu, your car is a 98 or newer? if so your gonna need an obd2b p72. you can use the obd1 ecu but your going to have to spend the money on an obd1 jumper harness

Need more info. What year the integra is. And what year the head is. Look on the front of the head above the exhaust manifold for the numbers. Or if it is a GSR motor, how many O2 sensors do you have before the cat? OBD1 only has 1 and OBD2 has 2.

Is the ecu you have in your car now chipped by chance? you can use a sohc ecu on a dohc motor. it just needs to be chipped with a gsr tune on it.

the engine year doesnt matter, whta year is the car? obd1=94-95. obd2a=96-98. obd2b=99-01. find out what year your car is and that will tell you what ecu you need

it doesnt matter what year the engine is, the car determines what obd version your using. if you want to know the year of the engine, look on the cylinder head just above the exhaust manifold, there are 3 stamp's. the one nearest the passenger side of the car is the year the motor was made

One way to tell if the motor is obd1 or 2 is by the distributor. if the dizzy has 1 plug it is obd2 and if it has two plugs it is obd1.

the on with two plugs is obd1 and the with one plug is obd2. that will at least clear up what distributor you have.

If its getting chipped your can choose when the vtec engages. Cheapest way to go jus get a p28 and chip it
