....99GSR and I love it! Ughhh, just gotta wait like 500miles(or about 2 weeks) for the clutch to break in before I can really see what this setup can do, which is harder said than done, but I've been pretty good so far. Just for reference, I got the stage 1KS Action clutch(with the Kevlar disc) from Rocket on this board, and I really like it so far, but of course we will really be able to tell when I can engage it a bit harder after it breaks in. It engages very smoothly, yet with very good immediacy as well. And the R tranny, oh man, I love this thing, the 4.785 REALLY helps out acceleration, it is awesome. I installed a new ITR FW as well, and I know it helps the car rev up a bit as well, I just didnt want to go for a really lightweight FW yet(for both performance and $$ reasons). I driven through a few hard/tight corners while laying the power down and I can really tell that the LSD is 'helping out' as well. Man, I just love this set-up, the shorter gears along with the higher FD are sweet, and 4th and 5th on the highway are only a few hundred rpms more(give or take depending on the speed) so it is certainly bearable, and I in fact love this, I just cant imagine what the 4.9 ATS FD would be like, especially on a USDM R's Tranny, now that would make for very high rpms. Anyways, just figured I'd let everyone know how these mods have turned out, and I've gotta say thanks to B18C1powered_Si on this board for the tranny, he is very trustworthy and straighforward and I highly reccomend him to you guys for your JDM needs(as many others have reccomended him to me). Well, enjoy

(And moderators, just thought I'd post this in the TypeR forum for reference on the ITR Tranny and Action Clutch, I know many here have inquired about them before, but if you must delete/move it then whatever)

don't be TOO hard on it the tranny is the weakest part of the link. Its really not meant for the cramping force of the new clutch, so be careful, be otherwise thanks for the review

No prob, trust me I will not be Too hard on the new tranny, or clutch, however the sprung kevlar disk does engage pretty smoothly, not at all like an unsprung metallic puck-type disk, thanks though, I love this set-up! Enjoy

Hey..

I was wondering if you can tell me more about your clutch.

Does it engaged all the way at the bottom?? How close is the engagement to your stock Type R Clutch??

I have been told that Stage 2 clutches (ACT) is lets out at the bottom.. very little travel.. and the car wants to go.. making it hard to drive.

Can you shed some more light about yours. I was thinking about the Excedy Clutch.. but not sure.. dont want a race clutch that is hard to drive.

Thanks

DK

Actually, this Action Stage 1KS kevlar clutch does engage very similar to a stock R(or even GSR for that matter) clutch, the engagement is very smooth(of course pretty quick though, not quite as slippable as stock organic disk, but still very slippable). And the engagement point is not ALL the way at the bottom of clutch travel, it is not any closer to the top either, the engagement point is about in the same spot as stock, maybe a bit lower its hard to really tell now. Actually a buddy of mine had an ACT Ai4HD/SS clutch in his GSR and the engagement point was higher(by like maybe two inches) than both stock and now this Action one, and I did not like that at all, I dont like a real high engagement point, and a REAL low one is not great either, this one is perfect IMO, I was concerned about how this one would be too before I installed it but it turned out to be just what I was looking for. Hope this helps, enjoy

And I was also considering getting an Exedy clutch too, but after I did my research then I found that this clutch would be best for me. You can do a SEARCH for the Action clutch to learn more about their offerings. And hey darknightwong, my parents live right near Kennesaw GA(ATL area) as well, so maybe the next time I'm visiting them from here in FL then we could go for a drive, later

I got the clutch from Rocket(ht name, real name is Robert) on this board, do a SEARCH and you will find all you need to know about him and the Action Clutches. And yes I(and some friends) installed it(along with the tranny obviously), also did all the belts and other 60k mile service(its good to have a honda master tech as a close friend). I must say again how much I love this tranny(and clutch), I just got back from lunch break and I didnt want to return to work, its like a whole different car, now I need to concentrate on adding more power to take advantage of the tranny, hmmm......what next .
And RealTypeR, if you are going to the upcoming Oct5 FL(and NC)dyno day in St Pete then maybe we can go for a spin, its advertised here on this board, I should be able to make it there just not sure yet.

<-----Who cant wait until the break-in period is completely over
