G22 build help please!!!!
i have a 96 accord ex with a f22b1 engine.. obd 2 -.-...
i wanted to put a h22 head on it, but i need to know what parts i would need, prices, do i have to pull the motor, and is it worth my time.
if not, what are your suggestions for me with my f22b1 stock obd2 engine. All i have right now is a intake and exhaust, im not going to start building it till i kno what path i wanna go on... please help with some suggestions or advice.
im nervous to get started!

THANKS A TON!!!!!

Study up some more on numerous other "G" builds.. Coming in here looking for "parts list" and "prices" wont get you anywhere..
Why not just swap in a H22/23? Why not just turbo the B1? Whats your budget? Do you know what your doing under the hood of your car? Should you be under the hood of your car? Ooo and again, how deep are your pockets??

What are your goals for the car and engine?
Goals for car = sporty daily driver, race on Sunday work on Monday, Race only - 1320 or circuit track.
Goals for engine = 200whp - 300whp Naturally aspirated or 300+whp forced induction.
What is your budget?
$1,000 - $3,000
$3,000 - $5,500
$5,500-$10,000+
Now as far as the G22 hybrid. Do you know if you can get your hands on on H22 head? I have never looked for one but I'm sure they are out there. How much they cost depends on where you live, comes down to supply and demand. Ebay or online could end up costing you double what it would cost at your local parts recyclers/junk yard.
Don't forget to add in the price of engine management and having the car tuned after adding/changing the characteristics of your engine. Engine management also has a price range of $150-200 for a chipped OBD1 ECU or $1000-$1500 for a stand alone engine management system (AEM, Motech or Haltech) The prices for tuning may differ by region.... general costs that I've seen are $50-100 for 3 runs, One hour $75-150, Full Day $400-500+.

Sounds like your well on your way to a nice budget build.
You do not need to remove the block from the vehicle to do a head swap.
If you do not already have one, you will require a chipped OBD1 ECU to put your Crome tune on. If you don't already have one you can probably get one on the cheap for around $80-100, that's really cheap though. Usually they are in the $150-$200 range now.
If you don't have one and you can solder yourself. Then it may only cost you around $50-$60 for a virgin P06 ECU. Then another $15-$30 for the chipping and VTEC components.
You may also want to get an H22 intake as well.

Yes you probably could use an H22 ECU. It then comes down to if you have an automatic transmission or a 5sp manual?
Also you will not be able to run a Crome chip or tune an OBD1 or OBD2 H22 P13 ECU.
If you are looking to use an OBD2 ECU there is only one year that they made the P13 without an immobilizer system in it, 1996. After 96 every H22 P13 ECU has an immobilizer system in it. They 96 OBD2 P13 can get rather expensive sometimes, depends on if you find someone who knows what they have or not. It is probably the most sought after OBD2 ECU's for a stock, smog tested H22 swap.
You could avoid that issue with the use of an OBD1 P13 and an OBD conversion harness. This harness will allow you to plug in and run an OBD1 ECU in your OBD2 car. Depending on where you live and the smog laws in your area. This will not pass a smog/scan test.

i live in northwest Indiana so i should be good and ya im probably gonna buy the obd2 to obd1 harness it would be for the best. and im keeping my auto tranny because people hate on it and im gettin a high stall and a shift kit so they can eat it.
with the money you are probably gonna spend on the h22 head swap, you can build your head on the f, and possibly have money left over for some internals.. I know my BUILT f22 head cost me about 250, a head gasket cost me like 50 plus or minus a few bones, and I still had money left over to get some rods and pistons.
Plus, the stock block on the F22 is not meant to really rev past 6700, even tho, the rev limiter cuts in at 7...
Just trying to help out, not trying to belittle you or nothing man..
Good luck with the build and keep us updated

What did you have done to the head for $250?
What rods and pistons did you buy and for how much?
Did you buy a cam and get your car tuned after all of this?
I'm not even going to make a comment on your 6700 RPM BS.
Not to mention the OP's F22B1 head has the worst port geometry known to the Honda world. You would require more than $500 worth of port work alone to get it to even flow close to a stock H22 head.
Don't worry so much about belittling the guy, stop BS'n him and give him some useful info.
yuh before u start buying everything down u should make a checklist of things u need and brainstorm... dont start buying stuff...
learn about what u need to do and will be doing and what u need...
and yes OBD I is better for swaps like this..
F22 tranny has long gears too i have F22B1 in my car well had but i kept the tranny becuz of the long gears... and the compression is almost just right to use forced induction... so u could go that direction too.. theres many solutions and options u could do.. u jus gotta think and sit down and learn and write down what u lookin at...

what would your opinion to do???? i dont like my f22b1 head on mine i hear only bad things about them.... if there is a easier and cheaper way to make it a good strong head so it has a little bit more horse thatd be great... im aiming for only 200 horse so i dont have high sxpectations
stage 2 cam... if i can find out the place we went for my cam to get redone i will let u kno.. cuz they did it cheap and my VTEC screams.. lol.. and before they did mines they said i had a canadian cam in mines? lol i was like wtf.. they asked if my VTEC got loud before and i said yea louder then all my friends with VTEC lol.. and he said yea thats why...
but yuh u could put stage 2 in..
one quick thing u should look into... is joining a car club or a team.. when u do that ppl kno ppl and ppl got hook ups.. i got my turbo set up for 300 and i jus had to buy exhaust manifold and then gauges and wat not too.. and i am good friends with a tuner lol..
so it all depends on who u kno... gotta learn the game bro
