My DA died the other night, was wondering if HT can help me.
I was driving home the other night and i accelerated quickly from an intersection and all of a sudden my car died and i thought i had run out of gas because my gas light was on. But luckily i had enough momentum from my launch to roll into a gas station right to the pump. So i filled my car half tank to see if my car would start if it had some gas, But no luck! My battery was working great to because i had my stereo on.
When i tried starting up my teg, i could hear the starter working and it sounded like the wanted to start up. I could here pistons firing in my exhaust. I have no idea what the problem is. could it be my distributor?
opened the oil cap, looked at the Intake cam. My buddy tried starting the car and........... The camshaft was operating great. That is all i had time to look for lastnight as i work 35 hours a week and very busy with school.
When my car was trying to start up, i couldnt here the pistons firing anymore except once and just one fired! so i think it is definatly ignition related.
I am hoping it is the distributor because i had a problem with it before and i rebuilt it to the best of my ability without changing any parts except the rotor. Tonight i am going to remove the distributor, No matter what i am going to replace it just because it had problems in the past.
Any comments help!
Thanks thusee for the info, Lastnight i decided to pop the hood and investigate. I tested the ignition wires by inserting the screw driver into the spark plug end of the wire and i held it close to the valve cover nutand sure enough each wire had spark. My fuel pump primes every time i turn the key over 2 places "The buzzing noise". I removed my Valve cover and checked out the Timing marks on the cam shafts and they look like they are accurate, but tonight im going to turn the crankshaft over to TDC and take a second look. Tonight im going to disconnect my fuel line at the fuel rail and see if it is shooting fuel
I turn the key over to start the car and sometimes it takes the starter 5 seconds to take effect, That is weird. My battery is low now also because i keep playing around and i have no way to recharged unless i bring the battery to my shop.
I have spark from the wires, I havent checked the plugs yet.
I listen and can hear the fuel pump Prime " BZZZZZ"
My car crapped out when i was low on gas and i filled it rite after it died and that wasnt a fix.
I checked my timing belt, It looks accurate or it may be off by one tooth. One tooth doesnt create a No start issue, it create hesitation because the exhaust valve stays open a little longer while the intake valve opens up.
Help me figure this out, i cannot move my car from its underground location. A super Clean car that isnt even mobile.
What else can i check fuses? is it visible if a fuse is Dead.
So for repeating my self in this thread, all i did was copy and paste.

See if your getting fuel. Running low on gas and you having a DA with i'm assuming the factory gas tank you might have picked up somenasty **** at the bottom of you tank. (think 20 year old gas tank...)Check for fuel pressure on the fuel filter and fuel rail.
I had this same problem when I first got my hatch running. the old gas tank had a **** ton of nasty **** and it clogged my fuel pump sock and fuel filter where it wouldn't start unless i primed it a million times. Even then it only run for a few seconds. I changed out my tank and fuel filter and have been fine since.
