¿ I'm annoyed with my Suspension setup! Opinions please ?
I'm sick of "BANG BANG BANG" every time I hit a 2 inch hole in the road!
My current setup stinks and I know it! I have a 88Si and when I bought it, Aerospeed coilovers were on it with stock struts. When those were adjusted all the way down, the car still had a 1 inch wheel gap. Realizing I would be replacing those soon, I cut 2 coils off of each spring to slam it low just like I like. Now the car rides like T TOTAL ****. Regardless if I raise them up or down. And in fact, I have to have the passenger side coilover screwed up like, an extra inch so the car sits level. That is crap. I realize I can go buy some struts and springs and be riding back to normal again but I want to have a suspension setup that fits my liking.
In the past, my first crx was also an 88si and it had stock struts and stock springs that had been heated/torched and damn that thing actually drove like a champ. Never had a problem out of it for a year or so. After I sold that, I bought a 92 hatch and put some sprint springs on it and they were not low enough, so I cut them down some. I cut allot off of them in fact and although the car was slammed, it still rode and drove great. Then I bought another crx and said, I'm going to put "coilovers" on it, so I bought some skunk2's. I installed them and they were not low enough. I settled with them and sold the car about, 6 months later. Since then I have owned a 2000 hatch and a 97 coupe both of which had skunk2 coilovers and they both handled, and drove like a champ. WTF.
I don't know what to do. Part of me wants to go to pepboys and buy replacement struts all the way around and buy some sprint springs and cut them. What should I do. I want my ride height to be similar if not a bit lower than this:

LOL...i can see u now..bouncey bouncey bouncey.."yo hommy like my ride" bouncey bouncey......
LOL
first of aerospeed coilover dont give the best ride ..secondly stock shocks tend to bounce more with any lowering spring...then u went and messed up the spring rate by cutting them!!
if u want a cheapo setup thats half way descent then go out and get some tokico blue shock and a skunk2 coilover or something..its gonna run u at least $500 but it will ride good and stiff/look good and perform quite well..
people stopped cutting springs 3 years ago...

the only way your gonna be able to stop that is if you get a full coil over setup
(Apex N1 or world sport, JIC MAGIC, or any other full coilover set up) all of these cost around 1400

The pic is my friends civic. Im okay with my current ride hight, I would just to get the "BANG BANG" out!

hey man don't sweat the flamin in here. some people like it low....like me!
anyways check this site out. not only does it give you extra travel (better ride) but it lowers the front end w/o affecting the spring.
my suggestion would be to go out and buy some springs (like a 2.5" drop) and some struts from pepboys or checker and do this method. hack a coil or two off the back if you have too, one or two won't make much a difference in ride quality.
or you could try the spring extreme rx series springs (3.25" drop with a full spring)...

dude does anyone make drop forks for the EF?
look at ryans motorsports control arms, they have 2 inch of lowereing in themand retian stock camber setting. so u go 2 inches lower and then u can slam it with a set of springs

the ONLY way youre gonna have the best of both worlds.. LOW ride, and COMFORTABLE ride, is if you get a descent shock/coilover combo like tokico blues and skunk2 coilovers, as well as drop forks and drop arms or just a low looking body kit. Youre asking for too much otherwise. I have tokico blues and Skunk2 coilovers. I can slam the **** out of my car, but it will ride like crap because I live in NY. The only way I can keep my car low and comfortable, is to go only about 1 1/2 lower then stock. PERIOD. Another issue alot of people are neglecting is the fact that low profile tires will transfer WAY more bumps to the suspension. Meaning, if you got 16's with 35 or 40 profiles, it will ride like crap, but if you jump on some 50's then it could be the difference between day and night. You could also be feeling a nasty ride because of worn busings in your suspension, or because of using aftermarket bushings made of urathane, which transfer alot of road harshness to the body. Oh, and last thing, NEVER EVER cut progressivly wound springs, thats just stupid
. Hope this is of some help. Btw, dont go out and buy a $1000+ full coilover setup, thinking that it will let you drop your rex 3+ inches and ride it in LI
It will ride like crap as well. Hope I helped your desision on some way..

You guys are crazy.
I only want to drop my ride (yo) 1.2" in the front, and 1" in the back. This spring setup is also known as: Eibach Pro Kit! Woohoo!
But seriously dude, NEVER cut the springs!!!!

Don't get a street coilover if you want a fairly comfortable ride. Either get a full coilover or some springs and decent shocks. As for springs thats up to you. I like the H&R Sports they give about a 2 inch drop 1.8 and 1.9 I believe, and leave about a pinky of wheel gap, you can match those up with some less expensive shocks like Bilsteins or Tokico Blues or if you're really trying to save money I've heard the Gabriel Riders or whatever the name is can be had at Pep Boys for the price of one Koni Yellow.

here dude. ....
Skunk2's are extremely stiff. Expect a harsh ride. DEFINATELY do not put Skunk2's on your stock shocks. It's not only uncomfortable, it's extremely dangerous.
