Default Tire pricing Q

Got a quote at a local Goodyear store for a set of Dunlo Direzza D2101 195/50/15 for 360+tax.
But I checked CL and found these http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/pts/1690734164.html
What would be a better buy?

If this is for your 2000 Civic EX, neither one is a good buy, because that size is too small for your car. You need 195/55-15 or 205/50-15. (Also, the Nitto NT-450 is an all-season tire, which is for people who need to use the same tires in snow as they do the rest of the year - NOT what you want in OC. And it's a crappy all-season, too.)

If you want a summer tire for your car that's better AND cheaper than the Dunlop Direzza DZ101, get the Yokohama S.drive. In 195/55-15, it's $76/tire with free shipping (and no sales tax, in most states) at Discount Tire Direct. Even if you pay another $40-60 to get them mounted and balanced, it's still cheaper than the DZ101. And better. And the right size for your car.

The best size depends on your car, not just on the wheels.

For example, when the 15x6 "fat fives" from a GS-R are used on an Integra or a '97-00 Civic, the best sizes are 195/55-15 or 205/50-15, because that's the outer diameter that those cars were designed for, with larger wheel wells, speedometer/odometer calibrated for larger tires, etc. However, when the same wheels are used on a del sol, CRX, or '95 or older Civic, the best size is 195/50-15, because those cars had smaller wheel wells, gauges calibrated for smaller tires, etc.

Again, if this is for your 2000 Civic EX, get 195/55-15 or 205/50-15. (And again, the S.drive in 195/55-15 at DTD is an awesome deal!)

Would any other set of tires be a better buy?
How about tires with white letters?

No, not if you're looking for summer tires for your car.

Only if you're at least 70 years old and buying them for your Camaro.
