Auto H22 swap questions
I am looking to purchase a 93 Accord with auto tranny, and I was wondering if there is anything special needed (as in beyond what the 5 sp swap says) to swap the auto tranny H22 into an auto trannied accord. Does the auto H22 tranny bolt right into the stock tranny mounts on the accord? Other things that are needed to complete the swap? I would love to research this but if anyone that knows can help me out that would be awesome. I have to let the guy know by tomorrow if I am going to get it or not. If the auto H22 cannot be easily installed (same difficulty as a 5 speed) then I will look for a 5 speed accord. But I really want this accord because it is cheap and really clean.
Trannies are exactly the same in every way. The shift points might be different, but I doubt it, I've never noticed a difference between the two. The driver's side axle is the same as the 5spd though. If you use the H22A axle, you have to use the H22 halfshaft. If you use the accord axle, you have to use the accord halfshaft.
so I can just use the h22 transmission and ecu and be fine? I dont need a tcu (if one even exists)? I would use the F tranny but 250k miles it a bit much to ask it to do any more.
I *believe* the OBDI vehicles have a separate TCU and ECU and post that they have the TCU integrated into the ECU.
There's at least one user on HondaSociety that has an H22A automatic swap and I can't recall what setup he was using, I believe his user name is Outkast CD5?

Why would you swap the TCU when they would function the same?
This would be just like swapping an H22A in place of an H22A4. Some folks might want to go through the hassle of swapping the JDM ECU for the USDM ECU, but what would the point be? Everything will be the same with the exception of not being able to pull codes through the OBDII Data Link because JDM ECUs don't have that capability.
There's no point in swapping the TCU unless the JDM TCU has better shift points, but more than likely they're the same.

You are suggesting the USDM F22A TCU is identical in function to an JDM/USDM H22 TCU?
While I don't know for certain I'd be very VERY surprised if they were remotely similar other than their shape.
