Default Air "flap" in rear bumper ??

whats the purpose of the little air flap thing in the rear bumper on the DC2??

or

if you mean the part at the bottom of the 98+ bumper it could be for decoration

but I think its the first one

Are you referring to the flap where the bolt holes are located to attach the bottom of the bumper to the frame?

i think he means this ^ no idea what its for, but id have to guess its to let air flow through the bumper maybe?

wen i pulled out all my rear interior panels theres a little air flap thingy i think this is wat u talkin.

i'll take a pic of it later and post

it's so when you close your door you don't blow out your windows. It lets the air out but doesn't let it in.

hmmmmm yea i noticed each time i close my door u can hear the little flap jus pop up open and then shut

ok so i stripped out my rear interior, but i dont wanna hear the flap wen im on bumpy roads,
can i just make the flap stay open??

if your strip the interior, you won't hear the flap- already been there, and yes these guys are correct, its to prevent pressure build when you close your door, although its not enough to hurt.
I used to compete in SPL (usaci) comps, and i have always just taken some expanding foam and filled the vent to permanently seal it off, because i noticed i was loosing DB because of the vent. so all my honda's have it sealed off right now, doesn't effect me any, but if you take the rear bumper off and slam the door you will see it flap.

thanks twentyhurtz i think im gonnna also seal it off completely like u did.
becuz my interior is stripped and i hear it all the time, especially on bumpy roads.

I think it also provides an exit for air coming in through the HVAC.
