What bias-ply/radial for 6-700hp+ on the street?
EDIT: Don't mind the rest of the below 1st post. narrowed down my choices... I'll be doing either the MT ET street bias-ply's, or the Hoosier QTP...anyone have any experience with both and can say which performed better?
I know at that point of making that much hp, finding a tire to hook becomes limited, but what are you guys using?
I have my 26" m&h slicks for the track. Now I need something that'll handle street duty.
M&H street/strip DOT's...only realistic size is 235/60/15. Tread width is only 7.5". I'm afraid for my power levels, I'm going to blow these tires off to the moon in 3rd gear.

Anyone use DOT cheater slicks on the street? Theyre the wrinkle wall bias-ply type of radial..
M&H: http://www.mandhtires.com/store.php?...on=show_detail
MT: http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...?item=ETStreet
Thing i like about the above 2 tires is the wider, 8.5" tread width and the softer compound for better traction.
Can I install these, inflate them, and drive on the freeway 10-20miles and around town short distances with them? Or is this like a slick where it shouldn't see any street duty?
The main concern for me is the street chewing these tires up. I know they wont last considerably long. that isnt a big deal. i just dont want them chunking up or ripping apart.
On a side note, 225's WONT work. been there, done that. haven't tried 235's, but i suspect they are not going to hold up at all. dont want to spend $320 to find out either..
the ET Street Radial II MT's have a 255, but that's a 27" tire. WAY too tall. looking for a 26" tire.
Since that's out of the way, what are you bigg hp buys using for street duty and having success with?

i have put 700 miles on my 235/60/15s and i have seen minimal to no tread wear. every time i drive the car its on the highway 100+ miles
haven't made much power yet so idk how there going to hook up feel good at high 300 tho

i had my eye on a 275/50 drag radial because of the better life on the street vs that of the Cheater slick.
ONLY reason i didnt pull the trigger for 275s is because the section width of the MT DR's is 11.5"
my M&H 26x8.5x15 slick has a section width of 10.5 and it slightly rubs my coil perch w/ 8mm spacers..
which DR are you using? MH or MT? I see the MH sidewall width is 10.9..hmm...
anyone good with rim offset differences between 2 different sized rims?
I have 15x8 slipstreams w/ +40 offset for my slicks that barely touch my coil sleeve when i decel.
I also have 15x7 slipstreams w/ +35. do i gain clearance or lose clearance switching to the 15x7 rim? i need more clearance..like ~5mm. im wondering if the slimmer width and larger offset will resolve my issue... :dunno:

definately want/need a 26" tall tire.
width is a big deal for my application..every .5" matters for clearance problems, in my case. If i can figure out which rim effectively "sits further" away from the wheel well, will help me figure out which way i need to go upon making a tire choice.

I have run 235/60/15 M&H for a few years. They get great wear for what they are and I have pulled 1.7 60fts on them with 550whp. I haven't had any traction issues with them at all at my power level
Due to manifold design (wastegate placement) and EBC limitations, I had to put a 18lb spring in my WG in order to reach the boost i want, so I can't launch the car at as low of a base psi as i would like out of the hole.
Good to know you had good experience w/ the 235's at 550.
Any boost by gear setup?

Call Hoosier, there tech guys are usually pretty helpful.
I don't think its the same compound, but they are wrinkle wall style, and DOT approved. I wouldn't want to take any corners at fast speed though! haha.

so after doing research, 275/50s wont fit irregardless of what i do.
MH 235/60's tread width is smaller than MT 235/60s, so that wont work. and the MT dr's i dont think are sticky enough to hold up on the street for my power level.
Narrowed it down to 2 options...
MT ET street bias-ply 26x10.5x15 (8.3" tread width/10.5" section width)
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MTT-3752/?rtype=10
or
Hoosier QTP bias-ply 26x9.5x15 (8.0" tread width/9.5.0" section width)
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOO-17415/
anyone have experience w/ both? just want to make the right choice the 1st time...

I ran both Hoosier QTP and the M/T ET Street. The M/T are a better hooking tire, but the sidewalls are very thin and I didnt like them on the street. The hoosier seemed to be the better all around tire. The QTP hooks great, last longer, and is more stable on the street. I just WOULD NOT want to be caught in the rain on those tires. The M&H 235's where a good dry and wet tire.
I went 10.4-10.5's on them.

THIS, was the response i was looking for. thanks!

seems like the QTP's were overall better from what im gathering from your post...going to order the QTP 26x9.5s this weekend.
thanks.
I mean, AWD, FWD.. whatever, a good tire is a good tire. There is a lot more AWD guys running and going very fast with DOT tires, obviously since there awd.
The 90% of the fast AWD guys run QTP's theres a reason for it too. There badass, and thats all there is too it. I will be running them this season.
