Default Stage 1 Cams idle issue.

Ok soo i've searched around a bit and found this is a common problem, but i just can't find the fix.

I just installed Crower stage 1 cams in my H22, everything is pretty much stock minus a CAI. From the instant the car fully warms up the idle becomes crazy and the motor dies out, if the car is cold it'll idle just fine.

Now I know i need a valve adjustment still, but I've read that even that doesn't resolve the issue. After checking the timing with a gun, i can tell it is slightly miss firing too. I've also tried adjusting the idle screw with no success.

As of now just to get a stable idle I have the timing advanced slightly via the dizzy, and opened up the throttle plate slightly

Any one else have any ideas?

do a valve adjustment. Tight lash can keep the valves from closing fully. Verify cam timing.

have you bothered to get an aftermarket ECU... this will not work with the stock ECU.

its only stage 1 cams. They have stock primaries....

if cam timing is dead on then do your valve adjustment. If the valve adjustment doesnt fix it, then the basemap is off and needs to be tuned.

That was your 1st mistake.
Using a stock ECU was your 2nd.

Yes i realize that you don't just boast about the skunk2 cams because you want to. But i got the these for a good deal, so it doesn't matter to me.

These are supose to run fine with the stock ECU, according to crower. But i also do have a chipped P28 im running with them.

All good. Just don't expect them to make much power. I just see it as money that could've been spent elsewhere.
Take that thing to a Dyno ASAP. A/M cams with a basemap is a recipe for disaster.
