have a question about one slick bigger than the othr
Well I bought a new set of slick 24.5x13x9 and I have a situation where one is bigger than the other. One is 74 3/4" and the other is 76" when I do a roll out messurement. I have had couple of opinions on what to do but was wondering if anybody else had some insight into the matter . The car with the smaller slick on. The left pulls left top end and if I put the smaller slick on the right the car pulls right. Also tried running different air pressure on the taller slick but that didn't help much.
Slick has bad run out or slipped belt. I would have returned it right away before running it. Call the manufacturer and see what they can/want to do.
If you have an LSD it'll be less dramatic, when I had a spool and had huge roll out differences, my car started to "dance" in the rear end ~ 130-140 mph and letting off made the car just dart off the course like crazy.

I had a similar problem which I think was caused by having to give a tire 80psi to bead it up. I continued to keep running them and the pulling eventually went away. It is very scary though and I almost bought a new set of tires. But yours is most likely just a unmatched roll out issue.
(Hello1320) I did the rollout at 20 psi
And base op 1320 I don't remember what air pressure was used to set the bead.

It's rubber. It doesn't stretch like you think....
Were both tires the same temp when measured? Temperature will affect pressure, size and measurement. When you do your rollout checks make sure both have been sitting in the shade for a few hours and are the same temp. Then go from there. Also, check your roll out at the pressure you'll be using the tires at.

Tepid1 I did the roll out when they where both the same tempeture , Ihavent done the roll out at the pressure that I am using them at. If I were to use an inner tube would that be an option to look into?
I don't think the inner tube will help at all.
Your best bet is to go to a shop that stocks slicks and pick your own. Ordering them online sucks.

i dont know if quality control has gone down or what....never used to have a problem with roll out, ive gotten 2 sets of tires in the last year or so that were way off. jegs actually swapped out a set that had bad roll out even though they had a couple of pass's on them.
Turbo-charge I have bought them @ the begging of the year and have had couple of other problems and wasn't able to make a full pass, I think its a lil too late to talk to the company to return them,
Jaywest - yes they are the same brand and rob had told me a trick to do just have been able to try it out

In the past, at local shops, I've ordered 4 slicks and only walk away with two. They don't mind and they know exactly why I've done this.
Also, check the batch number on the slick. Make sure they are from the same lot.

good ideal, keep that in mind for next time, and didnt check the batch # will do in a bit
inflate the smaller tire to 80psi and let it sit a few minutes. then check em again.
may have to do this a few times to get em even.
bias ply tires will stretch w/ high pressure

M/T doesnt "SIZE" their tires to match. So its are your discretion as far as sizing them yourselves or taking that chance that they wont have a significantly different rollout.
On the M&Hs we sell that John at M&H sizes up, he personally mounts each tire on a test wheel and measures the circumference. They are layed out and matched up to the rollout. Once they're matched up, they are numbered as matched sets.

If you really want a true matched pair, you'd have to buy other set of tires and match them up yourself. I really don't know of any MT supplier that actually sizes them before they sell it.
man i run mt's and have had the same problems, stretch the smaller tire by over-inflating it.
i do it all the time to match the rollout everytime i mount my slicks
problem solved
btw, Jhon @ m&h is the one who told me this trick back in 01' when i bought my very first set of slicks from him which were NOT matched.
He now matches them and even writes you a friendly note if he has the time

air them up, problem solved
ok just looked at the slick in more detailed they both have the same mold number 53-916
but there are these other numbers that idont know what it is its branded on the slick
right 74 3/4" roll out(CY8J8E83008)
left 76" roll out (CY8JL8E81609)

I get my slicks from John at M and H. He always mounts, inflates and checks the size so that you always get tires that match perfectly. Other companies just pull the tires off the shelf with out checking them.
