You clearly have never lived in NY state. Absurdly low speed limits (can you say 55mph on many highways that would be 70-75mph in other states) and speed traps every 60 miles or so on highways. I would not even bother buying a fast car if I still lived in that state.

Like I told Matt, " Well if its a simple speeder then plead not guilty and delay the court date aslong as you can. Go back to the place where you were ticketed and take photos to show the judge just how unfare of an are it is.
Remember none of this advise will help if you were in the triple digits tho "

No kidding. Even the black ITRs aren't stealthy enough anymore.

Not that my buzz-buzzing exhaust is anywhere near stealthy.

Yeah, instead of driving like maniacs on the street, you guys should do a track event or do an autoX or something. ...and learn how to drive properly.

Save it for the track guys.

And when you do a ticket, be a man about it, pay the absurdly huge fine and then get screwed by your insurnace company for 2 or 4 years.

i wasn't driving like a maniac. i was cruising around 80mph in a 65mph with traffic. they picked me out from everybody else. the cops set up a speed zone at a rest area; one cop zapped you with laser and 3-4 other cops pulled people over. i was pulled over with 2 other cars. i was equipped with a valentine, but it isn't a defense against laser. i have already sent in my plea of "not guilty;" now i need to decide if i'm going to hire a lawyer or just ask the prosecutor to lower my sentence to a non-point carrying offense.

anybody know if ny points carry over to nj?

I think they carry over but if I remember correctly is a strange conversion.

Anybody that thinks that you need to be driving like a maniac to get a ticket in the US (and particularly NY) is either a bit thick or does not live in the US.

...i was equipped with a valentine, but it isn't a defense against laser. ...
I have a V1, and it IS supposed to detect laser!... It saved me a few weeks ago in the same scenario; one cop on the side of the road standing by his car with the laser gun pointed into oncoming traffic. My V1 went off with an odd sound I hadn't heard before, so I know it does work. Maybe he was aiming at the car in front of me or something...
