help!!! trouble putting gas into car
long story short i have a 90 crx that was given to me by my cousin. its a project car. the gas gauge is not working, it reads between half and full. i was told that its not working and i already ran out of gas while driving it. the problem that im having is that i cant put gas into the gas tank. it will only let me put two or three dollars in and then acts like it is full. but again i know that it is not full. help please!!!
i already tried that. i even tried putting gas in the tank with a small gas can and still got the same result. the strange thing is my cousin said he put gas in it before (he didnt own the car that long and it sat most of the time) any other thoughts?

there's a ball inside the filler neck to prevent gas back float, or prevent people from stealing gas with a tube, just like a one way check valve, the ball probably got stuck or out of position, get another filler neck.
you need to inspect/test the vent system on the tank, its the smaller line that runs along the fill tube, check the ball valve at the tank as well. GL
thanks for the help. where exactly is the ball valve located at? it seems like it lets me put enough gas in that fills up the filler neck. i can then put a little in and it very slowly will go into the tank and i can keep topping it off just to get gas in it.
ok i took the filler neck off and disconected the vent hose from the filler neck. i tried putting gas into the big hose and the gas just poured out of the vent hose. i also stuck a coat hanger down the big hose and it seemed as if it went all the way into the tank. i did the same with the vent hose and i could not get the hanger to go all the way into the tank. so where exactly is the ball valve? my next step is to just pull the gas tank down. any other thoughts before i do that?
