2000 Accord LX: alternator or transmission or...
I have a 2000 Honda Accord.
A few days ago, I noticed a whine coming from the engine compartment. Not a clanging, rather a whine. On that trip (just a short intracity shopping trip) I noticed that after I parked (with the engine still on) the battery light, brake lamp light, and door open lights are on.
The next couple days the car is driven, the whine persists, but AFAICT the indicator lights didn't come on again.
Then I took it on a longer drive (5 mi each way), mostly on highway. Transmission slipped a lot near the end. I felt lucky to get home. After I put it in park, the check engine light came on.
Today I was going to plug in a little pocket OBD reader, but the car wouldn't even start.
Any ideas? At first I was thinking electrical system (alternator?), but why would the transmission slip unless there was something wrong with the transmission? (Some posts on the web imply that electrical problems can ==> ECU malfunction ==> weird things, but I'm not sure.)
TIA,
S

V6?
Delphi alt are pos and yes it could be causing your trans problems especially if voltages aer not right. test the alt and battery if good then look at the transmission

Yep, it's a V6. Given the stuff I mentioned in the initial post, looks like an electrical system issue, maybe bad alt.
