bbs bore on em1 dont fit?
So i just did my first show and test fit today with my new bbs rm's and literally had to 60 on the highway since i thought my wheels were going to fall off.. i eventually narrowed it down to my rims.. it seems the center bore on the rm's and is smaller than the hub to bolt on my car.. it sort of bolts on at an angle which is what im figuring causes all that vibration on the highway.. now would i have to have the wheels sort of bored out and cut a mm or two or is there some sort of hubcentric ring that may work or even spacers? im kinda new to fitting wide wheels and offsets any info appreciated 99 si btw..
Hubcentric rings won't help; they only work when the center bore on the rim is larger than the hub. Your situation is the reverse.
Since the center bore on the rim is too small, you have a choice of undesirable options. Basically, you can have the wheels bored out by a machine shop (and hope they can do it correctly), or you can get spacers to move the wheels out past the hubs (you can get the kind of spacers that have their own lugs and a lip that functions as a centering hub, or you may run into problems with vibrations from relying only on the lugs for centering the wheel). Whatever you do, there are downsides and it's risky.
Since these are new rims, any reputable wheel retailer should be happy to take them back, since they sold you ones with the wrong center bore. That's what I would do - return the wheels, and get some wheels with the proper center bore for your car. (The center bore on a '99 Civic is 56.1 mm.)
