What methods did u guys use to remove the Spoiler? I noticed that there is some kind of adhesive holding it down as well as bolts. What do i use to clean the adhesive off my car? Thanks for any kind of help

I peeled it off as best I could, then used Meguiars paint cleaner to get the remaining gunk off.

You can use a heat gun to soften the adhesive up, then use nailpolish remover to remove the residue. Use dental floss to separate the spoiler from the hatch...

A word to the wise, apply wax to the areas after the spoiler has been removed as the nailpolish remover will most likely strip the exisiting coat off...

i just got mine off this morning, and it was NOT easy. the dental floss didnt work, it kept breaking, so i had to use fishing line, which didnt work too well either. the problem is the adhesive tape between the bolts that you cant get at. i had to pry it up as hard as i could, and slip a razor blade in there to cut the stuff. the remaining tape on the trunk came right off. car looks WAY better without the wing, just need to find some plugs now. good luck.

i currently have mine my wing off...i think it looks really good if the car is dropped some a good 2 inches. if the car isnt dropped, it looks like a 4x4 without the wing so I would keep it on if my car wasnt lowered.

To remove the adhesive use 3M Bug and Tar Remover. The metal bottle/container is ~10 0z. with yellow/white lettering printed on a black background.

Unless your going to weld-in the holes, refinish and paint, you'll need to rewax the entire area to preserve your clear coat.

I just lifted my wing hard as possible and it finally gave. Actually the adhesive that was left on the trunk lid, just peeled right off for me, it was tough but came off in one piece.

ITR need their wings. It's part of the car's character and design,

I'm gonna have to disagree with you Mr. Knighton. To me at least, the ITR wing is a very minor part of the car....I do realize it is functional at track speeds and all that, and when i do finally get on the track, i will be winged. BUt i just totally dislike the arguement that the 'wing gives the type r its character', there is so much more about the type r that makes it special, other than the wing, the badges, or the stickers.

rob- who is just stating his view...different strokes for different folks
