Icon6 a6 rebuild ?s

sorry if this should be in tech but.... my d16a6 has 220k+ and runs great burns a little oil and i dont trust the head gasket much longer. i plan on rebuilding it to stock specs minus a possible overbore. i know to use the y7 head gasket and oem bearings, my question is what are the best parts for a stock rebuild? and would i need a tune with a .10 or .20 overbore? any other useful info would be great....my first honda rebuild and I know you guys have some good tips. also any performance mods that dont require a tune?? i want reliability over anything else and want to do this as cheaply as possible, with the best parts possible. thanks in advance.

haha... duh! but there are numerous companies out there making "stock parts." some have to be better than others and oem is outrageous

i guess ill decide that once the engine is tore down but all seals, gaskets, bearings, probably pistons, valve train???? i want this thing to be brand new inside and out. mainly i want to know things like the best head studs to use... vital machine work... is it worth the time and money to port and polish the a6 head/intake... are the rebuild kits you find even worth looking at... etc. like i said, first honda rebuild and there are tricks to everything. just looking for a little feedback from someone with experience.

as for gaskets and seals, if you dont want to buy genuine honda (and who does with the prices?) i get all mine at napa. any machining that i need done i do it myself, but paying a weel established machinist is definately worth the money (even thogh most machinist refuse to work on car parts) if it aint broke dont fix it. just polish it up and throw it back in is my advice. but as for the bore, might not be worth as much as it costs...

thanks for the feedback...the only reason i ask about the bore is on v8s with anywhere close to this kind of mileage i know a good rule of thumb is to go at least .10 over to ensure a perfectly round cylinder and the rings to seat well

check it with a dial bore gauge and see if a overbore is necessary. chances are you'd be better of doing one, but it can't hurt to check and see where things are relative to spec.
