Default compression test question...

Hey everyone,

I'm going to be doing a compression test on my B18C5 and I'm just wondering what the normal/average psi usually is. I've heard 200 but I wanted to double check.

Thanks!

Im think its not so much as what the numbers(unless the are really low) but how close they are for all cylinders. Most testers will read different numbers.

I just had mine done at honda dealer and mine read as follows....

Cylinder 1 165psi
Cylinder 2 165psi
Cylinder 3 160psi
Cylinder 4 160psi
Between 5-8% leakdown in all cylinders
I was told that these were great #'s and that consistancy between the cylinders is what is important(just as itr#1334 stated)

Testers will read different numbers with just a few percentage difference.

The reason why people get results of 160-165 is because the compression test is done with a cold engine.

A warm engine will yield a higher number, like ~200. However, as long as they close to each other, its fine.

this engine is probably fine even though the numbers seem low. like stated before a cold motor, closed TB, or just weird gauge is often the case. if one of those numbers was like 220 we would be far more worried
