hello i got a 03 civic si and my key wont turn in the ignition, i already took off the tumbler but i need to know how to separarate the part where the key goes into from the tumbler itself.

all help is appreciated

 

Did you try turning the steering wheel? If the wheel isn't straight it won't allow you to turn on the ignition.

 

yep, didnt work so i took out the tumbler and the key still wont turn

 

Sometimes when the key gets worn down it doesn't engage everything like it should. Mine is doing the same thing. I need to get a recut key. The way I tested this was that the key wouldn't turn the door locks easily either which I would assume means the key is bad versus the lock tumbler being bad.
