Default Check out my monster oil cooler...too big?

This thing is almost the size of my intercooler lol...

It's a Modine 14 row cooler, cooling dimensions are: 12 1/4"x7 3/4"x2 1/4"

I'm planning on hacking off the funky fittings it has and tapping for 1/2" NPT to use -10 lines, and also hacking off the fan brackets. I was thinking about mounting fans there, but there won't be enough clearance for them.

Maybe you should just use it as an intercooler

LoL I was thinking it would be nice if there were two welded together!!

Here are some pics from elsewhere!

I remember reading that you don't want your oil to be too cool or it looses some of it's lubricating capabilities!

I was selling mine because it was around that size I couldn't find a place to put it (fender well was to small). Anyway, if to clear some more space between the fmic and condensor I'm replacing the powersteering oil cooler (the big tubes) with a mustang one (compact tube and fin design) and relocating it to the fender well.

Yes, from Ebay. Awesome price. I think they are actually made for planes. Something similar from Mocal or one of the other good companies would run about 250-300 bucks in this size.

oil loses its lubricating cpabilities when it is heated not cooled.

I have a mocal of about the same size (only $100). Just make sure you run a thermostat or it will take at least 20 mins to get the oil up to temp. My oil rarely gets hotter than my coolant now.

it does not seem like it would be that efficent since the hot oil is entering the same side as the cooled oil. other than that i think it is a great buy.

Be very carefull with those oil coolers. I have personally watched the harm it did to my motor. On start ups it only takes a second for things to get damaged without proper lubrication. Oil is coming from your block through the hoses to the cooler and back to the block or turbo. After a while they take a toll on the motor. Seeing as how its a 4 cylinder motor, oil changes are cheap ($15 Canadain), so I rather change my oil more frequently then using these devices to prolong oil life. This is just my own personal opinion . Not too mention when the weather gets colder, it makes things that more harder on start up. Lastly when you do oil changes you still have about a liter of dirty oil still in the cooler and lines mixing in with fresh oil you just put in. Overall it boils down to your own personal perference.

Yeah I talked to my buddies down at Speedtek today and they agreed that the main problem is the "end tanks" it uses. It's too big for me and I'm selling it if anybody is interested. I bought a B&M today (of course manuf by Long/Trucool) and my lines, just waiting on the sandwich adapter.

Now, if I could find a good sized Mocal for only $100 I would have gotten one of those, but from what I have seen 100 clams will buy one the size of my wallet...folded up...I decided to get one of these, which is very close in design. Now the Setrab coolers....ooohhhhh uuuuguggg...but they are like twice as much as the Mocals!

I got mine from racerpartswholesale.com - I'm sure I didn't pay much more than $100, and it's more than big enough.
