Default New to the Honda scene.

hey all my names alex, i recently bought a 98 civic coupe hx. the bodys in great condition and the interior is perfect but i just had a few questions about some problems i'm having.

- the first is my speedometer works on and off (basically every other time i drive the car) otherwise when i start it up the speedo jumps to 60 and stays there or just stays at 0.

- the second is im getting a code p0401 (the EGR)

otherwise the car runs great, my mods in the future are gonna be lowering it 2' and i think a magnaflow exhaust, does anybody have any feedback on that?

- Thanks, Alex

it could possibly be the sensor in the tranny, or a wire thats shorted out.... and u might just have to clean the egr, unless its completly shot

the reason why your speedometer might be doing that is because it might be that the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) might be going out or not in all the way into the tranny, or your cluster speedometer needle is messing up, my car was doing this and i replaced it and the problem went away. hope this helps.
