im about to go pick up a 96 civic hatchback cx. The hatch doesnt have the door latch thingy like the 98-00 but my friend has the whole hatch with the door latch. I was wondering how hard will it be to put the door latch from the 98 hatch into my hatch, or do i have to replacre the whole hatch???

 

are you talking about the latch on the back of the hatch? or the latch release lever from the inside near the driver?

if you are talking about the one on the back of the hatch, why do you want it? you dont need it. for the 96-98 models, all you need is the key and it goes up.

for the 99-00 models, you need the key, then to press the latch.. thats stupid. and if you forget to lock the hatch, people can just open the hatch with the latch.
unlike the 96-98 where you have to open it with the key at all times, except from the inside of course.


btw: hope you guys didnt get confused with the usage of "hatch" and "latch"

 

i understand what ur saying but i like it, its convieient and im going to set my alarm to it so when i turn on the alarm and when i turn off the alarm it locks and unlock the latch

I have a 96 CX and agree, waste of time and effort.

I had a 99 now i have a 96...but I hated that **** the most on the 99...there was no inside trunk opener. I always had to get out and go unlock it, it was the gayest thing I've ever seen.. also it makes it easier for thieves to get into your car

I gotta say I got a 97 (had to do it cuz everyone else did) and had no clue that the 99-00 were like that....Oh well, I like mine how it is!

also whats the difference between the dx and cx except for ac no rear winshield wiper and the motor?

 

Motor is the same, only other difference is CX had no black color option and the passenger seat doesn't have the magizine holder for the CX.
