I have read a few of the reviews about the Honda dealers in my area and they are not too favorable for the most part.

I was wondering if there is any sort of group consensus of opinion (from Honda enthusiasts) about Honda maintenance at the dealer versus a "no-name" garage mechanic.

BTW, the buying experience doesn't seem too great either. Is it better to go with carmax or costco?

I know it kind of depends on the area, but I thought I would ask anyway.

My car is faster after going to the Stealership when compared to the "No-Name" garage because my wallet is considerably lighter. Otherwise I have noticed no difference in the quality of work. Once you are outside of warranty I would look at something like the Mechan-X files from Car Talk to find a reputable independent shop.
