Default ls vtec questions.

was wondering if i could use a 96 ls block to mount to my obd1 b16 head. the block is from an auto (doesnt make difference correct?) and if i can, can i go stock internals in the block with the stock internals on head. if not what should i get? cause i found a cheaap block, and would like a ls vtec set up. not looking to make big power, just found a ls block before i found a b16 block and my block is slightly messed up so i was wondering if i could do that. also would everything from my current b16 set up will work on that correct??

and i read you cant use the ls studs? you need to get different ones? found a thread showing how to rebuild the motor and build a ls vtec, i plan on using all stock internals block and head. if someone could help me in what i would need to run basicly a "stock" ls./vtec i know i need the conversion kit, but what else will i need to bolt the head to the block thanks in advance.

i have cam across some more information in my research and i do need a different timing belt. was mainly wondering though can i swap my b16 water pump into the ls block and use b16 timing? also can i take the studs from my b16 and install in the ls block, saw that in one thing i read idk if i can. if someone that knows the ls/vtec set ups please correct me if im wrong. and from here this is what i gathered i would need/use

b16a head
ls block
ls vtec kit, including head gasket and oil line necessity's
head studs (wondering if i can use the ones out of my b16 block)
want to use my b16 water pump, if so what timing belt should i get. (i am running no P/S or A/C)
b16 dizzy

i think i covered eveything i would need.
if i missed somthing please inform me of what it is and what i should get. and if something i said is incorrect please correct me.
also how would i go about installing a knock sensor/getting ecu to read no knock sensor, was reading that could be done but it didnt explain how.

i have a b16 block just the mount for the half shaft brackets broke (idk how or why just know i can only use one bolt) so i am trying to go to a ls/vtec.

lastly is the fact that the block is coming from an obd2 considering its from a 96 teg, gonna be an issue being that my head is a obd1.

i have read while doing some research and came across using the alternator bracket to install a knock sensor. the one to the right so its closer to the center. anyone know if thats a good method?

bump please help.
and can i take my pistons from the b16 block and put them in the ls block?
or am i better off leaving the ls pistons? want something tahts gonna be reliable on minimal modifications (due to money right now) to last a year or two then it will be fully built with all new rods and pistons and cams. so if the ls pistons and everything internal with the ls block will work that would be awsome for me.

basicly trying to do an ls vtec set up for under 500 (found cheap block) and pricing everything out. if it goes above 500 then ill probly just order a B20 and run that as is. but would reallllly like to be able to do the ls vtec

You should go look in the "All Motor" section. https://honda-tech.com/forums/all-motor-naturally-aspirated-44/

Check out this thread, it has some links to guides about LS-vtec engine.

at this point not worried about performance. the b20b's looking good to me about 500, and new safe motor, wont have to worry about things going bad (and new i mean under 40k)
