I have just recently purchased a 99 LX from a friend, when driving it around for a little while I noticed that it was shifting a little hard into second gear (Auto Trans) thought nothing of it. Then the other night as i was driving around I started to get a little bit of sputter out of it, I accelerated to see if it would work it self out but kept sputtering as if the trans was engaging and releasing, I hit the acceleration again but this time its completely released, None of the drive gears are engaging and Reverse is not either. I turn the car off for a little while and then put it into drive and it starts to move only to release about 45 seconds later. I flushed the system but knew it wasn't going to do much anyway I'm locked on the thought that its one of the solenoids on the transmission but I don't know which one. I would replace them all but I'm sort of strapped on cash. I've searched the forums for a little while and came up empty I could really use some help

check the oil first and if its black and smells bad then you need new transmission.

 

No the Oil smells like it should, and there is normal discoloration from when I last changed it

 

the pump in the tranny probably went out

what do you mean no , you come hear for help because you dont know whats wrong , why dont you take some advice

 

No it just shouldn't be the pump in the fact that it will shift through the other gears just fine. If i lift up the front end and put it in drive it will shift all gears fine and hold, Its only between gears one and two
