I recently purchased a 1995 Civic VX, I noticed yesterday it will not hit it's 6k rpm rev limit. It got to about 5200 rpms. I wasn't sure of the issue then, but after researching and conducting test I think I have narrowed it down to the two. Dist. or ECU. I let the car cool down earlier, after starting it I reved to 5500rpms this time, on the way home from work, I was almost home and I wanted to see what it would get to. This time it only revved to 4500 rpms. after letting it cool off again, back up to 5500 rpms. How and what can I test on the ECU to see if that is the issue?! Also pictures would be nice to have if you ask me to take apart and resolder joints (ex. What joints to re-solder) Thanks for any input!!
