Coilover help needed please.
Hey guys, i decided to freshen up my suspension as my old avo coilovers had seen better days. I was given a brand new set of cheap coilovers designed for a USDM EG so as i own a JDM i purchased some new rear LCA's to make them fit.
Problems i'm having is that the front are really low with hardly any adjustment and the rears sit like a monster truck with over half the adjustment!
I've tried swapping the springs around incase i messed up but it still sits the same, i've even disconnected the standard rear anti roll bar to see if that helped but no.
So are these springs just too damn long and should i purchase some smaller ones or where am i going wrong?!
I estimated around 10 turns equals 1/4 inch so i'd need around 180 turns to get the rears nice and low.
Sorry for the bad pics of the rears!

Holy crap dude, that's a massive difference. If you can take clear pics of both the front and rear suspension with the wheels removed, it would go alot farther in people being able to help you out.
Yikes, is that what cheap gets you these days lol. J/K. Post up some more pictures, we can't see really what is going on and can't help you much till some better pics are posted. It looks like the lower mount is adjustable, the rear bottomed all the way out? How about spring preload, do you have a lot of preload on the spring. 2-3 full turns should be good.
Thanks for the replies guys, i will upload better pictures tomorrow with a better camera!
Maybe i should set a new trend, how high can you get your Honda!

wow, I'm in the same boat as you. I have the exact same problem, same side and front is doing the same. But mine is on a DA...lol
Ill keep an eye on this thread, and see what you come up with.

Sorry for the lack of update and pics, been busy trying to work with these freebies in an attempt to get it back on the road... Basically i checked we had the correct springs on and wound the rears right down to the last thread and now have around a 4 finger gap on the pass side and a 5 finger gap on the drivers side. Both rears are on the same thread so i haven't got a clue why one side is higher than the other..also it's no where near low enough considering there is no more adjustment and can apparently go down upto 70mm.
I'm thinking these are just gunk to be honest, i've tried everything and the rears simply cannot go any lower. I was debating cutting a coil or two from the rears in a ghetto attempt to allow me to have a few weeks driving action! I've e-mailed Ground Control to see if they can do me a deal on a complete setup shipped over to me in the UK.
So thats where i am..4 finger gap one side, 5 finger gap the other. No more adjustment available as they are wound right down. Maybe i am doing something wrong but after spending most my weekend adjusting them..taking them off...readjusting them i'm sick of the sight of suspension bits!

Are you sure the spring is actually touching both the spring perch and top hat when the car is on the ground with that kind of gap? Did you trim the bump stops? I don't see how that kind of gap is physically possible with that short of a spring and the perch all the way down.
Thanks again for replying Patrick...i apologise for not uploading any better pics as promised as i know without them it's hard to offer help.
They are sitting nicely in the tophats and i have not cut the bumpstops. I am fairly basic with my knowledge of suspensions hence why it's too me so long to replace the previous avo's i had on! The rears have 2 rubber bushings..one in the top of the top hat and one on the underneath the tophat if that makes sense along with 2 washers one again on top of the tophat and one below on the strut rod. From what i can tell the spring is sitting nicely in both the tophat and the lower spring perch...i'm planning on ripping the back suspension back off tomorrow after work so this time i will upload pictures of the process i'm going through.
Thanks again for the reply i am greatful for the help. On the other hand i have recieved an email from GC asking which SKU# i would like? Do they mean coilover setup?

My guess would be you probably have a stiffer spring rate on the ones that raise it to much. Mislabeling does happen, chassis shop should be able to tell you if their what their suppose to be.
