i wanna get rid of my a/c need some help
been wanting to get rid of it , it doesnt work and i figure why not it would give me a little bit more room in the engine bay. is there anyone with a step by step guide on removing one . it will be my first. thanks guys !!!
there isnt a how to that i have ever seen, i mean all you really have to do is make sure its empty and then take bolts off and remove the crap.
its basicly easy enough my 3 yr old nephew could do it
oh and you should pick up the block off plates for the ac wholes.

go somewhere first and have them recover any refrigerant if there's any in the lines. then just start unbolting the lines and pulling out parts one at a time. compressor, condenser, receiver drier, etc. it's pretty simple really.
yup what they said. just start at your firewall on your passenger side where it goes into your cabin and yank those ugly lines off and keep going taking everything off till you reach the pulley on your drivers side. or you can even do it backwards! creativity for the win! its incredibly easy.
umm 2 bolts takes the ac compressor off.... 2 more for the condenser... 1 for the evaporator.... and the lines you can just cut with some wire cutters..... takes like 15-20 mins... ooo and if you have r34 refrigerant... its AL GORE friendly, so you can just let it go into the atmosphere
^^ Um, no. Still illegal to vent. Please don't. If you want a step by step, follow the install instructions backwards. Don't cut any lines - it's just as easy to unbolt, and you'll be able to reinstall it if ever you change your mind and want to put it back in down the road in future.
OP: You are in Watertown, NY? I was there a couple of weeks ago - I saw the RUSTIEST 92-95 Civic hatchback that I've ever seen. Teal green. Waved at buddy as I drove by in mine. Man that thing was in rough, rough shape.

cut the belt, remove four bolts on the compressor, a few little bolts on the air condensor, undo three or so spots on the lines...easy!! I left the lines going into the cockpit...i only took off everything else in the engine bay making it easy to replace if i decide to sell it.
man i just rippe the bolts out of the lines on the condensor and ripped the line off and stood back. that refrigerant will freeze your hands. all joking aside- i learned the hard way and almost lost my pinky and ring finger on my left hand when i did my first one 12 years ago. keep your hands away from the refrigerant if you do it this way. but then you can just pull everything off part by part
we just pop the line and go in the house for a while. do this away from kids and NOT IN THE GARAGE. it's true that it's illegal to do, but very very unlikely anyone will ever say anything, but the correct way is to have it professionaly evucated.
and there is absoulty no reason to cut the lines, thats just plain lazy, the only thing we have ever cut the belt, simply becuase its easier.

thanks guys i appreciate your help, if it doesnt rain tomorrow im gonna start taking it apart. dont think im gonna cut any lines though
is it as easy to install as it is to remove?
if i want to not touch anything under the dash [to retain heat] must anything be capped at the firewall? i dont believe ill have any holes to plug.
wow i clicked that link to the a/c install guide... kind of discourages me.
