well, as the title says i just got a crap paint job on my 99 integra, saw the car for the first time today buddy sprayed it friday and it is now sunday, and the paint is orange peeled like mad, theres still a dent in the fender that wasnt fixed, where someone keyed the car before i had it still shows just its filled in with paint now, buddy also forgot to shave my emblem holes which i clearly told him to do, and the hood had abunch of chips in it which are also just filled in with paint but u can sitll see where it was chipped, in my opinion im not paying for that sort of job, and im going to tell buddy to redo it , im paying him 2000 , just wondering if im not happy with the job and he refuses to repaint it would i still have to pay him?ha

 

hell no I would be pissed man. 2000!?!?!?! For that price it sould of been near flawless.

For $2000 you could have taken it to a REAL body shop and got a REAL paintjob. It sounds like your buddy ripped you off......

I'm sure maaco could do a better job then what your sayin, and do PROFESSIONAL body work for $500-1000. also, did you buy the paint and supplies? o did you just hand him your car and say go to work. If so pay him a bit butnot $2000. he did do work, you can't jstu not pay him for trying, but you can sure as hell not pay him $2k. thats rediculous.

if he gives you a problem you can take him to small claims court, make sure you take pictures of the damage

 

2k come on over man ill paint your car AND FIX everything you want me to fix lol. i charged a buddy 600 and pizza and beer the other day and i painted the car and fixed about 5 small dents.

Sounds like he just scuffed the car and spray right over the old paint and used a crappy gun. I wouldnt pay him a dime. If you plan on going to court, better hope you have some sort of written agreement of what was supposed to be done, the cost, and plenty of pics of the finished product. Also, it always helps to get claims from professional body shops of the crap job it sounds like he did...

haha.... you guys are all funny... 2000 is cheap! If you came to my shop, you wouldnt even get an estamite unless you were expecting to pay at least 5 for a clean car. And i mean clean. But, obviously it would be show quailty. Materials are not cheap!!!!!!

I just re-sprayed my entire Rx-8 with the Velocity Red 3 stage paint, including the special pearl base mixture and top of the line paint/lacquer clear.

I paid a little over 1k for the paint..
And the job was 1500..

2500 for a REAL professional paintjob, 3 stage, using the best quality paint I could find, not some OMNI **** everyone else uses.

Im going to be spraying my EG this weekend. My 1st car ever all by myself..
I spent almost 700 on the paint, but its a nice gold/green 2 stage. Im thinking about getting a pearl base or metallic flake though for an extra 300-400. Im just worried I might waste it if I **** up the paintjob.

Did a couple of hoods and fenders though, and 2 bumpers, as practice for buddys. Shitload of headlights and taillights too.. I think I should be fine..

But yeah man, 2000 for job from a buddy is too much. It Should be amazing quality for that price.

5k is kind of rediculous. Im paintin my car inside and out and ive got about $1,500-$2,000 wrapped up in supplies and ive got one of the best paint, high build primer, epoxy primer, and clear. Your talking like 3K in labor, i wouldnt pay that kind of price...

 

I was quoted 2400$ for a tri stage paint job with light body work done at a local shop. You are getting ripped man..Small claims unless he fixes it for free?

in my opinion, if he doesnt want to repaint dont pay him....if he doesnt give you the car back, take pictures to court and take care of the issue legally....you cant loose, it happened to me with one my rx7, at the end he had to repaint......

 

well gentlemen just picked the car up, i demanded he redo the hatch, which he did and it turned out fine, he redid the hood as well, although the bumper still has some nicks in it..and depending on the lighting u can sort of see some blemishes along the door.... overall a rip of a job that im happy with in some spots not so happy in others.... i will post pics once i get the car put back together , also i just handed him the car and said paint it...lesson learned my friends professional shop next time?id imagine.....haha

Where was he spraying the car? If it was in a grage was the grage temp control. Everything and i mean everything can affect a paint job. :-s, but deffineatly $2000 grand it way to much i would say $500-$600 in materials at max.
