Sport Light Stays on (After Reset Too)
Hi everyone, I am having the problem of the Sport light staying on. It has been on for a week, and not once turned off. Not only is the light on, but it is actually placing the car in Sport mode. After researching this problem, I did the following to diagnose and attempt to correct:
I removed the TCU, but it didn't look like any of the part on it were in bad shape. I brought it to Radio Shack and they said the same thing. I figured, at the very least, having it disconnected for half teh day would at least reset the TCU and the problem would at least very temporarily go away. However, after reconnecting it, the light stayed on the second I started the car after.
Any advice on what my next steps would be? Thanks for any suggestion!

What year accord? My brother's Sport light was on solid (91 LX) and we opened the TCU. Burnt diodes. Replaced the TCU and sport light is off and it is now shifting gears.
Mine is also a 91 Accord. Was it obvious your brother's was damaged. Myself and my dad looked at mine, and it looked fine; brought it to radio shack just in case and they said the same. Thanks!
Brought it to Radio Shack huh. No offense but, everytime I walk in there, those guys don't know jack, maybe it's just every location in my area. But anyways. I remember seeing something about this, like a TSB. Something about a Sport Shift light stuck on or flashing due to a faulty ECU/TCU.

What concerns me most is that even after resetting the TCU, the Sport Light still comes on right away. Does that make it much more likely that it is NOT a TCU problem?

Well looking at the internals itself might not help. It could be something like the PGM-FI Main Relays where the naked eye can't see the problem. On those relays, the excessive heat seems to have caused the solder to crack. If you take magnifying glass to the board, you'd noticed the cracked solder on the Main Relay board. All those took was either a quick parts swap or a touch of the crack solder connection and you were good to go.
So if you want, give it a closer inspection. You might find something. I generally don't care for it since I never got paid to save customers any money. But in your case, if it means saving some money, I'd give it a shot or just live with it.
