wat size battery ?
hi im new to this forum i got a 88 crx si with a swaped d16cz ande i was wondering wat size battery do i need? i would check the battery but i dont have it ? any help mpuld be appreciated / thanks
well for a swap you have a few choices. If you use the stock battery location you will have to make your intake jive with your battery, it can be a dangerous fire hazzard if the intake tube touches your battery terminals, which is quite a common mistake.
You could also relocate your battery to some other location under the hood using a pc680 odyssey (its smaller than stock) or you could put it in the trunk. If you put it in the trunk you need a sealed battery for health reasons.
heres a link for the trunk location https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1131532
Also If you have subs or an amp you need a beefy battery.
so the answere to your question depends on the factors above.

If you go bigger you might not be able to shut the hood. Make sure the new one is not taller than the stock one.
You also need to check the post location as the positive lead is short and you can't move it much.
I do recommend a cover for the positive terminal!!!!
I've not had a stock size for ages but I'm 95% thesmogman is correct it being a 51R.
In a pinch once I was able to stuff my Z06's battery in it with no intake arm
Are you looking for a OEM replacement or something else? Any store will know what size stock is and be happy to sell you one.
If you are looking aftermarket you do not need one as large or as strong, I've toyed with a few sizes, and they have mixed results, if you are in very cold weather or do a lot of short trips and winter driving OEM is your best bet size wise but in warmer areas you can sneak away with a smaller one even a motorcycle one can run if you are creative, just don't expect it to last.
