Hey guys im in the process of taking my b20 out of my ef hatch, running into a couple problems . . 1st issue I can seem to figure out how to get the drivers side hasport motor mount broke loose? Cant seem to get a socket on top because the rubber insert of the mount is in the way. . heres a picture of what im talking about. .

2nd Problem. . I got the pass. side axle out no problem. . Now im stuck on the drivers Side . . The lower ball joint Castle Nut just keeps spinning , Should I use Vice Grips on it or what?
Thanks guys. . .

unbolt the mount from the chassis, not the mount from the motor. for the lower ball joint castle nut, I'm assuming the car is on jack stands and the wheel is off. Try putting the wheel back on and lowering it down so you are putting pressure on the ball joint from the weight of the car. if you can't get to it with the wheel on, put a jack under the lower control arm, and jack up the lower control arm to create the pressure needed. this should keep it from spinning so you can break the nut loose. hope this helps. also, 30 minutes is a short time for a reply on this forum. be a little patient next time, lol. good luck.

put a wrench on it, not a socket, and see if the stud that the nut screws onto is spinning as well. from what you are describing, all you are doing is spinning the stud and the nut is not broken loose. that is why i suggested applying pressure to the ball joint to keep the stud from spinning.

he was talking about pulling the engine from the top if I read that the way it was intended. however, I have dropped the engine from the bottom with removing the mount from the chassis and not the motor. all you have to do is jack up the engine until the mount clears the slot it sits in and with a little maneuvering, drop the engine with the mount outside of the slot.
and like i suggested before, if the stud is spinning with the nut, putting the wheel on the car and letting the weight of the car apply the pressure will give the best results. if you can't get to it with a socket, you should be able to get to it with a wrench with the wheel on. if that doesn't work, only other thing I would suggest is getting an impact gun and an air compressor and try that.
