Default Need cylinder head info

1995 Accord Lx
4 banger non Vtec

Very new to hondas. Only had this one for about 20 miles.

Quick history...

Had cylinder head in for inspection and preparation for a head gasket change.
Cam is shot, bad bearings.... and screwed up the head also.

Engine is a F22B2
Cylinder head is POB-5

Guy at shop says in looking for a head, "POB" is important; but MOST important is the five. In looking on the internet for a head, nobody advertises the number after the letters. All I see are POA and POB.

Actually, the guy I took it to says he has a couple POB-7. He says they are not interchangeable. Something to do w/ intake size. (i believe that is what he told me)

I need versed in HEAD and Engine compatibility. Keeping in mind I have no idea if car is original.... Meaning someone could have slapped a head in there at some point. I dunno???

I suppose what concerns me the most is the silly ## at the end. HE says it is very important. Yet, I don't see anyone use it.

So right now we got her tore down in the driveway looking for a head.

Thank you, JHK

Ricksautomotive......

I am really not a automotive guru per se. I was a little confused by your post and what you had to offer.

What I really NEED is a complete Head w/ cam and valves... rocker assembly, etc. Prefarebly in 1 sale. Not buy head here... buy valves there...get cam over there. get valve job. Ya know?

Remanufactured would be nice (warranty good). Used and cheap would be ok, cause i got a guy who can can clean it up. he can do the valve too, if necessary.

Still confused on what to get though....

its a core that we take the cams off because we sell them to rebuilders (companies that rebuild engines for parts stores like pep-boys and auto zone). we sell em to regular guys like yourself too but we have to get the cams off a different shelf. in the end with one payment you get the complete head ready to bolt on your engine and backed with a 1-year warranty. we do the leg work on going from the warehouse to the machine shop and to fed ex, ups, or the engine shipping trucking company. its cool if youre not interested though. PM me if you are

Mine that is bad is casted POB-5.

The guy at Head repair shop (don't quote me) says.... I've got some around here that are POB-7..... pretty sure he said "B", not "A" and he definitely said 7.

Maybe I will call him saturday and see if he is working. Anyway he goes on to say that the intake size is different than mine.

To answer your question... the 7 would be casted, and it is just what I've been told second hand.

Maybe I need him to look at them again.... He sounded so confident though. you hate to question a guy like that. He only does this for a living!

i have to agree with you. youre new to hondas? or was that someone elses thread i was reading? but yeah the guy does it for a living. hes confident. he has one he says wont work-it must not if he says so otherwise why not sell you that one? this 5 you asked for is casted (OEM) yet...my dealer stuff only shows the one OEM number i told you. there is 2 engines for your car...the F22B2 and F22B1 but thees still only one head. hmm. gotta go see whats in the warehouse for myself. i've never had this question or issues with this stuff. we just keep the oem numbers on the same shelf with the others. i'll call honda monday and ask if the 7, 5 or B is a lot number or production date code. but i wanna see the castings i have and maybe sub group them

As far as i know there is no need to worry about if it's a 5 or 7. I have been working on these engines for well over 6 years now and I've never even heard mention of a POB-5 or 7. I've only ever heard talk of P0B & P0A.

The Honda part number is 12100-P0B-A00 for all 94-97 F22B2 cylinder heads. Doesn't mater if it's OBD1 (94-95) or OBD2 (96-97) 2dr or 4dr, automatic or manual.
