Default Blown Motor?

Hi all, just an inquiry into why my car is running the way it is right now. I have a 98ex with a stock motor, 153k miles. It has been leaking oil for a while now and last week I had to drive about 60 miles. Well, I should have checked my oil level because my car was acting up, not accelerating smoothly and sputtering(jerky acceleration). I put oil in it but I think the damage is done. I was driving to work today and the check engine light came on. It then started driving like **** again, jerky acceleration, and no power. I drive up a very big hill to get home and approached the hill @ 50 and my car slowly went down to 35mph. I couldn't drive faster than 35mph. I know something is wrong just trying to do a process of elimination. I thought maybe head gasket but after reading symptom's mine sounds a bit worse. Oh, and sometimes at idle it drops to 100rpm's and almost stalls. Just wanted to get some ideas of what it may or may not be. Don't really have the money for a repair right now so either way I am SOL.

Thanks
Eric

yeah engines need oil to lubricate everything and that last 60 miles with probably no oil in it did the final punch. You can do a complete rebuild or motor swap.

Well, the engine check light didn't come on until today. I put oil in it last week. I am not saying I haven't been neglecting my car because I have. I stopped giving a **** about my car when it went back to stock and it was my point A, to point B car. I shouldn't have but life took over. My brother in law brought a diagnostic checker over and it looks as though I am throwing two codes. The o2 sensor which wouldn't cause a problem like I had and a barometer sensor. We checked plugs, cap, rotor, nothing a fowl. So, I decided to drive him around for a bit to see if it would do what it has been doing for me...nope. Drove up and down the same big hills and nothing. It was actually running quite good, so, going to have to figure out the sensor business.

Do a leak down test just to be sure. And if it's leaking oil, fix it! It could be something simple like two O rings on the oil filter.
