skunk2 intake manifold on a base
I have a 05 base manual with header, test pipe, full catback and a sri. over the winter i bought a skunk2 intake manifold, skunk2 70mm throttle body, and skunk2 composite fuelrail as far as engine mods for this summer. I was gonna put them in this weekend but... i think from some comments i have read on here that i may need k pro to have this set up run smoothly? can anyone give me some advice on this please? besides buyin a type s, as i plan on a doin a swap in the next year, and am aware these parts can be transfered to the new engine. i did try to search this abit but couldnt come up with a clear answer.
To make the most of the mods, you'll need Kpro to reprogram your air/fuel/timing ratios. Otherwise the stock ECU will be trying (unsuccessfully) to compensate for the additional airflow.
Do the base DC5's have butterfly valves in the intake mani? If that's the case, you'll definitely need Kpro to eliminate this option.

dudee, i did the exact same mods as you recently, throttle body-fuel rail-intake manifold... i have a base. threw everything on the right way, so cant be an installation problem. there are a couple problems,,,, high idle between 1200 and 2000 at a stop(depending on the air temperature)... if you are not in vtech rpm range and floor it you will have a bog, so i just compensated and found a sweet spot, around 60% throttle. those are the 2 main issues i have. either than that its a beaut. there is only ONE solution to our problems.... KPRO!
