Default D16A6 rough running after HG change

I bought a rough running 90Si that had the "headgasket" replaced. The story is hard to believe but the price for the shell alone was worth it if th engine turns out to be a dud.

Symptoms:

Rough idle and hard to start.

When applying throttle, the RPM's do not increase - I have to play with the amount and how fast I apply pressure to the pedal to get anything resemblinga rev.

I haven't checked TDC and timing and plug wire order yet, that's the next step.

Getting blowby at the dipstick and intake manifold out the throttle body This part may be the worst symptom but I have another shortblock ready to go in. I just want to see if there is something else.

Oh, I've searched and still searching but looking for a quick answer

This motor may be on its very last tippy toes. It was spewing oil in too many places and it was getting dark

I did get it to idle a bit better than before.

New Plug wires. Same firing order. I did try switching order but it just ran worse. I forgot my FSM - all I had was a useless Haynes. Stay tuned for a vid of me burning that useless garbage.

New Gas Cap - the previous owner had the rubber gasket but not the hard cover [/hammmertime]

Gas gauge was low so I added 2 gallons. No telling how much was left in there with most EF's I know having inacurrate fuel gauges.

The IACV (I dont know what it is called for the EF) mounted on the firewall had the greatest affect on the idle. I unpplugged the electrical harness and the vac line to the IM and immedieately the idle became steady.

more lated after i get some rest. i didn't get to do anymore searches or reading . . .
