So everyone, i have a big problem. I went for a drive and out of nowhere i couldnt shift into third fourth or fifth. So finally after a couple minutes of cruising it went into third then fourth and kind rammed itself into fifth AND THEN i start hearing this light ticking sound. So i get home and put it on stands and spin a tire (normally the other spins counter clockwise) and the other doesn't spin. I got to the other side and same thing, oh did i mention that ticking sound is there while im doing it. So i spin the wheel backwards and the ticking is worse except theres also like a grinding noise too and the other wheel tries to spin. I'm expecting the worse but hoping for the best. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

Btw car is an 88 crx y8 swap/si cable trans

 

It sounds like the problem is internal in the transmission, synchromesh or shift fork issues. Perhaps drain the transmission oil into a clean drain pan and see if you have metal filings in the oil that comes out of the gearbox..
